🚨 NEW WORLD SCREWWORM UPDATE — June 24, 2026 🚨

We have an important update to share.

🔴 NEW CONFIRMED COUNTY ADDED
Medina County has reported a confirmed screwworm case in cattle as of June 24, 2026.

This brings Texas to 8 confirmed counties currently being tracked on our HFR map.

We’ve updated our Texas Screwworm map with the latest information from USDA, TAHC, and Texas A&M AgriLife.

What’s New Since Yesterday

🟠 Webb County Correction — Webb is Quarantine Only and NOT a confirmed case.

🟠 New Quarantine Counties Added

Coke County
Pecos County
Terrell County

🟠 Schleicher County Update
Schleicher remains a partial quarantine zone. At this time, TAHC has not released clear zone boundaries to accurately reflect the impacted area on the map.

🔴 USDA Update: Sutton County = INACTIVE
This means Sutton had a prior confirmed case, but USDA is not currently tracking an active infestation there.

USDA and TAHC have reported a new confirmed case of New World Screwworm in Crockett County (lamb). Additional cases have also been confirmed in Edwards County (calves).

As a result, the infested area now includes Crockett County, and the quarantine / monitoring zone now includes Schleicher County.

📌 CURRENT STATUS:
• 8 Texas counties with confirmed cases (see map)

• Quarantine / Monitoring zone expanded: Schleicher County
• Monitoring zone remains in place for surrounding counties shown on map

✅ At this time, no new Texas counties have been added beyond the counties already shown on our current map.

The first question to ask is simple:

To help make product selection easier, we’ve organized a dedicated screwworm preparedness area in-store by category:

⚪ TOP SHELF — Identification / Monitoring
Products used to identify, mark, and monitor animals or wound locations so areas can be easily tracked and rechecked.

🟢 MIDDLE SHELF — Prevention & Wound Care
Use when there are NO maggots present but your animal has:
✔ Fresh wounds
✔ Branding wounds
✔ Castration / dehorning sites
✔ Cuts or scrapes
✔ Umbilical / navel area on newborns

Goal: Protect wounds before flies can lay eggs.

🔴 BOTTOM SHELF — Treatment & Sanitization
Use when maggots are present or suspected.

Watch for:

🐂🐐🐑🐖🐄🚨 Screwworm Update for Central Texas 🚨

Case information is accurate and sourced from USDA. Map manually update but purpose is shown for visual reference only; county placement is approximate.

We’ve had many customers asking for updates, so we wanted to share the latest information we have.

Since our previous update, Tom Green County and Sutton County have been added as new confirmed screwworm cases in Texas.

🟢 The good news:
Hamilton County, Coryell County, Erath County, Commanche County, Mills County, San Saba County, and Lampasas County still have NO confirmed screwworm cases and are NOT in a quarantine zone.

⚠️ What has changed?
The confirmed cases are gradually moving farther north, which means the closest known activity is now closer to our area than before.

At this time, this is not a reason to panic, but it is a reason to stay alert and prepared.

Please continue checking livestock daily, especially around:
• Open wounds
• Branding sites
• Castration sites
• Ear tags
• Fresh cuts or injuries

We’ve also had many questions about what products help with prevention vs treatment. There are some important differences between the two, and we’re working on putting together helpful product recommendations and information to make that easier to understand.

Edwards County has now been added as a new confirmed screwworm case in Texas.

🟠 Monitoring / quarantine areas have also expanded, now including additional surrounding counties as officials work to contain the spread.

Hamilton County and Coryell County still have NO confirmed screwworm cases and are NOT in a quarantine zone. 🙌

At this time, the closest known activity remains roughly 100–140 miles south/southwest of our area.
