We are ready for Champaign County Master Gardener and Horticulture Program’s garden walk! The vendor marketplace will be at the Idea Garden (North Lincoln Ave., Urbana) tomorrow, Saturday, June 20 from 9 am- 4 pm. We will have self-watering buckets, self-watering tomatoes, herb, tea, pollinator gardens, and more. Ticket sale proceeds benefit their community projects! It’s been a productive weekend thanks to the family! 👩‍🌾 Didn’t snap any pics 📸 yesterday of sister Chelsea, niece Sammi, and husband David, but thanks to the team we planted about 450 strawberries 🍓 😋 and perennial natives. 🌻

On this Earth Day, we take a moment to share how we reduce, reuse, and recycle. You can do these things too!

👩‍🌾 collect rainwater for our plants (600 gallons so far this year and counting!)

👩‍🌾 cover crop to naturally add nutrients to the soil, improve water intake, suppress w**ds, and reduce erosion

👩‍🌾 plant native shrubs and trees to diversify local ecosystem

👩‍🌾 common milkw**d and swamp milkw**d around the farm provides habitat for monarchs and multiple other beneficial butterflies, moths, bees, beetles, and more

👩‍🌾 wild aster stays in place feeding late fall pollinators

👩‍🌾 hugelkultur mounds sequester carbon

👩‍🌾 compost our kitchen scraps and solarize w**d piles

👩‍🌾 preserve fruits and vegetables for long shelf-life and optimal nutrition

Adorable niece Sammi Swaim has been helping each week…girl power! We’ve been finding a lot of earthworms which is a great sign that our soil is healthy!!!
