We will be Closed till January 5, 2026 Due to the loss of our dearly beloved Herman.

HAMMONDSVILLE - Herman Maxie Howell, 89, of Hammondsville, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at his home.

He was born July 29, 1936, in Verda, Kentucky, the son of the late Emerson and Zora (Vanover) Howell. In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his sister, Nora (Don) Royer; two brothers-in-law: Ed Presley and Sam "Nunzio" Lombardozzi; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Charles and Kathryn Cronin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Goldie and Clark Saltsman and Charles and Betty Cronin; and several nieces and nephews.

Herman graduated from Irondale High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was previously employed as the director of maintenance at the former Crucible Steel Mill, and as the facilities director for the former Citizens and Sky Banks before retiring to Ridgeview Angus Farm which he owned and operated. Herman was a member of Pine Grove Church where he was also the caretaker of Pine Grove Cemetery for many years. He was a 32 degree past master mason affiliated with the Irondale Jenkins Lodge 471 and was a member of the Scottish Rites. Herman was also a pilot and enjoyed flying his private plane. He also loved to travel and farm, but Herman was happiest when he was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen (Cronin) Howell, whom he married in 1957; and three sisters: Deloris Lombardozzi of Wellsville, Shirley (Bill) Marshall of Calcutta, and Verna Presley of Burgettstown, PA. Also surviving are a large and loving extended family of many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Amanda Crews of the church officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. A masonic service will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Herman's name to Pine Grove Church or Pine Grove Cemetery, 2506 Township Road 289, Hammondsville, OH 43930 or Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
