When one of the ducks catches a frog it causes a lot of excitement in the flock. They’ll chase each other around trying to take it away from the owner, sometimes stretching the poor frog. I didn’t get my phone out in time to catch the flurry of activity in the beginning, but you can see her after she put some distance between herself and most of the flock. Frogs, snails, bugs, ticks - they don’t stand a chance with these girls around!

I’m getting ready to take eggs to Tiller & Rye later today. Someone is going to get a great big surprise in their carton. Definitely at least a double yolk, maybe triple?

It’s springtime, and that means that the ducks have started laying eggs again! We again have limited capacity, but I just made a delivery to Tiller & Rye yesterday so they currently have eggs available. While you’re there, try out some yummy samples from lots of local vendors who are there celebrating 10 years of Tiller & Rye. Feel free to message me here if you’d prefer to buy eggs straight from the farm. Happy spring - the ducks are loving this rainy, cold weather even if we aren’t!

Apparently word got out that Flock & Field Farm is hiring. We had lots and lots of eager candidates show up today, only to be told that they were not qualified because we are only hire domesticated ducks. 🦆 At least they were more qualified than the Canada Geese that showed up earlier in the day, though. 🪿
The ducks to the left of the coop are Flock & Field ducks. All of the rest, including all of those in the water, are wildies. I’ve reminded the girls about not bringing any wild boyfriends back to the coop.
