This mornings convo on the farm... 🤨
(repair man & myself)
finds me while I'm doing morning chores,
'hey do you mind if I turn off the water to the house?'
'Give me 5 minutes to finish taking care of the animals water'
'Oh ok, hey what are all these animals?'
Those are meat birds, ginger broilers.'
'Why do you call them meat birds?'
'Because we will process them, and that's our chicken for the year'
'so, you eat them?'
'yes, that's where chicken in the market comes from'
'So what are these?'
'Those are our egg layers, we use the eggs here and sell them as well'
'These look fatter than those other ones, are they all pregnant?'
(me coming out of the coop holding eggs) uh , no they lay eggs, they do not carry babies and we do not have a rooster.'
'Why do you need a rooster?'
(trying desperately not to laugh intensely because he was serious)
'well, you see, you need a boy chicken and a girl chicken to hook up to fertilize the egg'
'Oh, so the baby is in the eggs?'
'Uh, yeah....that's how that works.'
(he looks confused)
'um, ok well I'm gonna go turn the water off now and start working'
Mind you, if you know me, then you know how difficult it was to control sarcasm and I'm sure my face said it all! This is a grown man in his 30's 🙄
