Road trip today to see my Great Aunt Lavern (Maternal) in Folkston Georgia who is 89 years old and still Spicy. Loved catching up with my two favorites cousins Dina Atkinson Oliveto and Bo Atkinson❤️

Remi said we had to stop at Buc-ee’s in Brunswick so we obliged 😊

On our way home we paid respects to my Great-Great Grandparents (Paternal) Silas and Mary Griffis and our Great Grandparents Moultry (Mote) and Georgia Griffis in Jesup, Georgia.

I realized today I am at minimum a 4th generation farmer. Just something neat to know as my dad was the reason I learned anything about farming. He and his siblings were raised by Mote and Georgia Griffis ( My Great Grandparents) and taught to farm at a very young age.

If you know me at all, you know I was a daddy’s girl. That meant I went wherever he went and learned whatever he could teach me. He was a master Upholsterer and created some beautiful furniture. He was also a farmer after work and on the weekends. He taught me so many things growing up. Building porches with no plans, changing a tire, planting seeds, harvesting vegetables, how to hunt and fish and many other things I use on our farm today. He taught me to work hard for the things I wanted.

I’m so grateful to be able to continue farming like my dad, my great grandfather and my great-great grandfather. When I left my career after 16 years in the fire service to farm full time, I know people thought I was crazy. But here I am nearly four years later with a successful farm that provides quality meats to so many family’s.

We’ve had quite the week on the farm. Remi, our newest addition is getting use to all the animals and getting very playful.

We took chickens last week to the processor, so all chicken sausage will be restocked next week!!
