We have officially sold our last dozen from the Hermit Hill Farmstand.

For the last 5 years we have had the wonderful experience of learning self sufficiency with our children. Teaching them to raise their own food, animal husbandry, livestock management, supporting your community and small business practices.

Our flock was much more to us than livestock. It transformed our life, and family during a time when the outside world was falling apart. We are so grateful that they will continue to bring those same lessons and joy to another family.

We thank you all so much for your support! 🫶🏼

We currently have 5 dozen eggs remaining at the stand. We will be open until they sell out. 🙂

Our flock left for its new home this afternoon, where they will be continuing the same journey we intended for them! They will be helping a few fellow homeschoolers start an egg business! 🥰

The farmstand and supplies for it will be post for sale this weekend for anyone that might be interested!

Tomorrow our flock will be making their way to their new home!

The stand is currently stocked with 10 dozen and we have a handful of dozens in inventory. 🙂

Good Morning Hermit Hill Friends!

Happy Saturday 🙂

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 5 years since we started our roadside farmstand. What started out as our backyard garden and a few chickens bloomed into so much more! Lots of memories, experiences and the ability to provide for our community.

Over the winter months our family talked a lot about our goals over the next few years. Originally we thought we would be homesteading forever, but we’ve outgrown our current space & the economy isn’t very buyer friendly at the moment.

Both myself & my husband are retired, and our children are homeschooled. This gives us a freedom that most families will never know. So we’ve decided to take advantage of that freedom.

This week will be our last week offering items from our roadside farmstand. Our chicken & duck flock is being rehomed with some wonderful friends. Our boys Napoleon and Lester, will be going to live at a Wildlife Center in Central NY. They will be part of their breeding program. They will get to interact with humans everyday in a safari type setting where any of us can visit them! We truly couldn’t ask for a better home for them.

The stand will be open until the flock is moved, so be sure to stock up!

We’ve had lots of interest in chicks & ducklings this year. Unfortunately we decided not to hatch any babies this spring.

BUT….any of our eggs purchased at the stand can be used as hatching eggs!

Our chicken eggs will produce a barnyard mix (including but not limited to Barred Rock, Easter Eggs, FCM, Ameraucana, Leghorn, RIR…). Which will guarantee you a great start to chasing that egg rainbow 🌈 😄

Our duck eggs will produce Cayuga or Cayuga/Khaki Campbell cross. Our hens are a mix of Cayuga (which lay the pretty grey eggs shown below) & Khaki Campbells. Our drake is a Cayuga.

Any eggs purchased for hatching should be brought to room temperature before entering an incubator.

**Please keep in mind- babies hatched now, will begin laying late summer/early fall 🙂

Our egg stand sign is in need of repair, so we will not have the sign out at the end of the drive, but the stand is opened and stocked!

Anyone interested in hatching goose eggs?! 😄

Our mama goose has started laying, and we are at max capacity as far as geese go! We currently have 6 available.

Mom is a Pilgrim and dad is either Pilgrim or Sebastopol. (See photos below)
