Queen of Apostles Soup Kitchen We here at Queen of Apostles Soup Kitchen conduct a drive thru/walk up free lunch and mini food distribution every Thursday (weather permitting).

We want you to know that all are welcome. We distribute every Thursday at approximately 10:00 am.

Happy Thankful Thursday one and all.

Let me start by saying a big thank you to my crew today…Carl Pro, Margie Baran, Annette, Robert aka Bob and Louise Pachla, Richard Thomas and of course the Birthday girl Mary Spillman for another extraordinary job they did this week to get us back on track. From trips for bread, and trips to Gleaner’s and to the store to purchase items it all got accomplished because of our great teamwork.

Thank You to each and everyone who shared the post yesterday, Diana, Mary, Suzy, Paul, Dave, Cynthia, Ethel, Linda, Andrea, Rachel and Debbie.

Now it’s time for everyone to wish Mary Spillman a 60th birthday. Today was a great celebration of a woman who will let nothing stand in her way to help in any way possible. She’s a wife, mother, daughter, cousin, in-law and truly a friend to many, and so much more so please join me in wishing her a great 60th birthday.

We will be back next Thursday and Friday to do it all over again.

The QUEEN OF APOSTLES SOUP KITCHEN is back in business starting tomorrow Thursday June 18, 2026 just for you our wonderful community.

Before I begin the weekly post I want to get some vital information posted about our weekly food distribution.

HAPPENING TOMORROW THURSDAY JUNE 18, 2026

“Public Service Announcement”

Our weekly food giveaway is not a pantry type distribution, nor is it a client choice pantry, but rather a fresh fruit and vegetable distribution serving members of our community in need. Because we focus on fresh produce, we do not store food from week to week. All items received are distributed each Thursday during the giveaway.

Ticket distribution begins every Thursday at 8:00 a.m., with food distribution starting at 10:00 a.m. Many guests begin lining up as early at 6:00 a.m., and tickets are often gone before 9:00 a.m. For this reason, we strongly encourage arriving early, as those arriving late may not get a ticket. However, if we have extra items available when you arrive our intake managers may be able to make you a bag to take home, but remember it will not be every items listed below.

We kindly ask for your patience and understanding, and respectfully remind all guests not to take frustrations out on our volunteers, who generously give their time to serve others. If we are unable to assist you, we are happy to provide information about other local resources where food may be available.

Happening TOMORROW—Thursday JUNE 18, 2026 the Queen of Apostles Soup Kitchen will be hosting their free lunch and mini food giveaway….remember this is walk-up, drive-thru distribution only. The volunteers will do all the loading of carts, wagons and buggies, as well as loading all the food into your vehicle.

Our giveaway starts at 10:00 AM

WE CAN HELP 65 FAMILIES.

We hand out 65 tickets on a first come first served basis and each person and vehicle will get 1 ticket. Unless there are 2 separate households/individuals in a vehicle, or if you have a signed proxy form from a friend, neighbor or family member.

Please remember to follow the rules, if you’re in a vehicle please park in a parking spot you may have to move a cone. Just put that in front of your vehicle and a volunteers will come a pick them up. Wait in your vehicle and a volunteer will be out to collect your information. If you are a walker you must have a WAGON, CART, OR BUGGY in order to receive food. Walkers please line up on the west side of the entrance doors of the activities center.

Please arrive before 9:00 am as tickets go very fast.

Keep the yellow area in front of the entrance doors clear, please stay behind the yellow markings.

YOUR TRUNKS MUST BE CLEAN IN ORDER FOR US TO FILL YOUR VEHICLE. NO EXCEPTIONS….

We will get you in and out once you pull up in less than 5 minutes.

If you have any questions please contact our church directly. 1-313-891-1520 during regular office hours. 8:30 am -1:45 pm

Here are all the items that will be given away tomorrow.
1-5lb bag of potatoes 🥔
1-gallon of Milk (dated 6-24-2026)🥛
1-personal watermelon
1-pineapple 🍍
1-big pantry item
1-small pantry bag
1-bag of corn (6 each)
1-bag of grapefruits (3 each)
1-bag of red peppers (4 each)
1-bag of Roma tomatoes (8 each)
1-bag of rice
1-bag of miniature packages of croutons
1-loaf of Milano’s bread 🥖

At today’s giveaway each person will get 13 items to take home.

OUR LUNCH IS NOT HALAH

1-take out container of Srodek’s assorted pierogi with sour cream,
1-container of pineapples, 1-container of corn, 1-pack of gum, 1-mini candy, 1-breakfast/protein bar, 1-sour patch sucker, 1-bag of chips or pretzels, 1-can of Mt. Dew…….

Yes it’s another magical Monday and I wanted to spread the good word about a fantastic fundraiser for Queen of Apostles Soup Kitchen happening on June 23rd, 2026 at Suzy’s Bar on Evaline in Hamtramck….

Suzy has graciously agreed to host this event and we have a guy who gives the best entertainment we have ever had, yes it’s someone so many of you know Jotown….It’s always a great time and you not only will be helping out our soup kitchen but you will also be helping Suzy’s Bar.

We will have a 50/50 raffle, a lottery board raffle, gift card board raffle (winner’s choice) of 1 gift card on the board, a charcoal bbq grill raffle. LICENSE # R86849

Good afternoon everyone. Due to circumstances beyond our control we have to advise everyone that we will be closed next week Thursday June 11, 2026. This is all due to a late notice from the administration of the school about their end of school event happening next Thursday June 11, 2026 taking place in our PARKING LOT.

PLEASE PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD THAT NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE PARKING LOT NEXT THURSDAY FOR SOUP KITCHEN.

1-block of lightly salted butter
1-loaf of Milano’s bread 🥖

At today’s giveaway each person will get 16 items to take home.

2-Hot Dogs with mustard and ketchup (pork and chicken),
1-container of baked beans, 1-container of peas, 1-large peanut butter cookie, 1-pack of gum, 2-mini candies, 1-breakfast/protein bar, 1-bag of salty snacks, 1-can of Mt. Dew…….
