Just a quick thank you to all of my amazing volunteers this week. Carl Pro, Rick Thomas, Jeanie Harlan, Nancy Henry, Debbie Polas, Louise Pachla, Robert Pachla, Joe Sernick, & Fr. Edward Traczyk…
Our soup kitchen is so lucky to have so many wonderful volunteers that no matter what the weather or task they jump right in and get it done. We would be lost without all of you.

To my amazing sharer Diana Elizabeth, Susan Briskey, Ethel Fiddler, Paul Opalewski, Mary Segal-Spillman, Dave Hypnarowicz, Andrea Karps, Cynthia Luberski-Cervenak, Linda Ignaczak, and Debbie Mularski-Warren…your time and energy to get the word out is working we are packed week after week. Good afternoon everyone

HAPPENING TOMORROW THURSDAY OCTOBER 1, 2026

We will be having our free lunch/food giveaway

Our distribution takes place in our parking lot which is located behind Hamtramck Academy on Conant and Harold Street. Their address is 11420 Conant….remember do not call the school as they have nothing to do with our giveaway, I listed our parish phone number below if you have any questions.

Ticket distribution begins every Thursday at 8:00 a.m., with food distribution starting TOMORROW AT 10:00 AM. To be clear some of our clients begin lining up as early at 6:00 a.m. and tickets are often gone before 9:00 a.m. For this reason, we strongly encourage arriving early, as those arriving late may not get a ticket. However, if we have extra items available when you arrive our intake managers may be able to make you a bag to take home, but remember it will not be every items listed below.

We kindly ask for your patience and understanding, and respectfully remind all guests not to take frustrations out on our volunteers, who generously give their time to serve others. If we are unable to assist you, we are happy to provide information about other local resources where food may be available.

We have 65 tickets available tomorrow on a first come first served basis and each person and vehicle will get 1 ticket. Unless there are 2 separate households/individuals in a vehicle, or if you have a signed proxy form from a friend, neighbor or family member.

Please remember to follow the rules, if you’re in a vehicle please park in a parking spot you may have to move a cone. Just put that in front of your vehicle and a volunteers will come a pick them up. Wait in your vehicle and a volunteer will be out to collect your information. If you are a walker you must have a WAGON, CART, OR BUGGY in order to receive food. Walkers please line up on the west side of the entrance doors of the activities center.

Please arrive before 9:00 am as tickets go very fast.

Keep the yellow area in front of the entrance doors clear, please stay behind the yellow markings.

YOUR TRUNKS MUST BE CLEAN IN ORDER FOR US TO FILL YOUR VEHICLE. NO EXCEPTIONS…. IF YOUR TRUNK IS NOT CLEAN AND YOU WANT THE ITEMS IN YOUR BACK SEAT THEN YOU WILL BE THE ONE LOADING THE ITEMS.

We will get you in and out once you pull up in less than 5 minutes.

If you have any questions please contact our church directly. 1-313-891-1520 during regular office hours. 8:30 am -1:45 pm

1-Welch’s sparkling blueberry drink
1-3lb bag of onions 🧅
1-bag with 4 cream cheese containers
1-bag of Kroger peanuts 🥜
1-2lb bag of Great Northern Beans
1-bag with 2 Hard Boiled Eggs packages
1-2lb bag of garbanzo beans
1- 1lb container of butter
1-bag of lentils
1-bag with 2 containers of sweet tomatoes
1-bag of popcorn or parmesan pretzels
1-bag of frozen organic carrot slices
1-loaf of Milano’s bread 🥖 (assorted varieties)

At today’s giveaway each person will get 15 items to take home.

We will have a hot lunch available but it is not HALAH:

2-Oscar Mayer hotdogs with mustard and ketchup, 1/2 cup of chili (no beans) with crackers, 1/2 cup of green beans, 5 mini muffins with nuts, 1-pack of gum, 1-candy bar 1-skinny pop popcorn,
1-Dr. Pepper Zero.

Just a friendly reminder about the Queen of Apostles Soup Kitchen monthly food giveaway happening tomorrow:

September 25, 2026. Starting around 10:00 am

We have 100+ tickets available. Please show up early in order to get a ticket. First come first served on tickets.

Please be advised to bring an extra large wagon, cart or buggy. You will be getting 16+ items tomorrow and here is a list of them.

1-box of frozen fish 🎣
1-bag of Po***ck fish filets 🐠
1-box or package of Cod fish filets 🐟
1-bag of “HALAH” CHICKEN DRUMSTICKS 🍗
1-5lb bag of French fries 🍟

1-gallon of Milk 🥛
2-3 bottles or 1 case of Welch’s Sparkling Blueberry Juice

1-head of fresh cabbage 🥬
1-bag of fresh sweet corn 🌽
1-bag of green or red peppers or a mixture of both 🫑
2-4 bags of green or purple grapes 🍇
1-2 bags of tomatoes 🍅

1-bag with 1 dozen eggs, 2 packages of cream cheese and 2 packages of USDA Hard Boiled Eggs

We may have a few more items on the truck as it says assorted produce pallet. Which we will divide and give out along with everything listed above.

So when I say come prepared with a large wagon I truly mean it. Try as best as you can. Clients with smaller carts may not get the same items as they won’t fit in your baskets or buggy’s and you may also get much less then someone else. But you will get the majority cause we have great packers.

On behalf of the Queen of Apostles Soup Kitchen, I would like to take a moment to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to everyone who continues to give their time, energy, and hearts to making our food giveaway possible.

First and foremost, a very special THANK YOU to Carl Pro, Joe Sernick, Rick Thomas, Jeanie Harlan, Margie Baran, and Louise and Robert Pachla. Week after week, you continue to show up, work together, and do whatever is needed to make sure our soup kitchen and food giveaways happen. Your dedication, compassion, and willingness to serve others are truly extraordinary.

What you do is so much more than simply volunteering. You are helping make sure that families in our community have food on their tables. You give your time freely, you work tirelessly, and you do it all with caring hearts. I thank God for each and every one of you. Your kindness is a blessing to our soup kitchen and to the people we are privileged to serve.

I also want to send a very special thank you to all of our wonderful post sharers:

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO MADISON METRO SCHOOL

Today was an especially special day for the Queen of Apostles Soup Kitchen because we had the honor of welcoming the students of Madison Metro School as our volunteers.

We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the team leaders, Ms. Caroline, Ms. Brittney, and Coach Kyle, for their wonderful leadership and guidance throughout the entire giveaway and cleanup. Your leadership helped make the day a tremendous success.

And to our amazing student volunteers:
Marshall, Matthew, Mohamad, Tyler, Josh, Mark, and Melinda—
THANK YOU!
It was wonderful having you back with us, and you did an absolutely amazing job!
These students jumped right in and worked so hard. They loaded carts, wagons, and buggies, and made sure everything was where it needed to be. They vacuumed and wiped down all of the gray carts, stacked them, and put them away. They wiped down the tables and even helped load the tables and chairs.
You didn't just volunteer—you served with enthusiasm, teamwork, and heart.

What touched me most was seeing how much these students genuinely enjoy helping others. They look forward to coming back and being part of the giveaway. They have already expressed that they would love to come every week!

That kind of compassion is something truly special.
I believe God places people in our paths for a reason, and today we were blessed to have these wonderful young people spend their time serving our community. May God continue to guide them, bless them, and remind them that even the smallest act of kindness can make a tremendous difference in someone's life.
And, of course, after all of that hard work, Ms. Kathleen had to reward them with their favorite donuts and pop! 😊🍩

I have included some wonderful pictures of the students with their partners as they walked around filling carts and helping our guests. I hope when you look at these pictures, you see what I see—a group of young people who are learning that giving, serving, and caring for others is one of life's greatest blessings.

To every volunteer, every student, every leader, and every person who shared our post:

May God bless you abundantly for the kindness you show to others. May He continue to give you strength when the work is difficult, joy when you see the smiles of those you help, and peace in knowing that your service truly matters.
