The Story Behind Hadley Point Lavender Seaweed 💜🌊
Some of our soaps have a story behind them that goes much deeper than the ingredients.
Our Hadley Point Lavender Seaweed soap is one of them.
When we rebranded Maine Island Soap and created our new packaging, we decided to name our Lavender Seaweed soap Hadley Point in honor of Russ's stepfather, who passed away in 2016.
He grew up on a family farm and dropped out of school in the 6th grade to go to work. His teachers told him he would never amount to anything.
They were wrong.
He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy, build a successful plastering company with his father, own and operate Hadley Point Campground, and over the course of his life, own more than 100 properties, including apartments, commercial buildings, and shopping centers.
Russ's mother and stepfather lived at Hadley Point, where he became a true fixture in the community. He was a hard worker, a businessman, and someone who knew how to build something from the ground up.
He also had a positive influence on both Russ and Tina. Russ learned a great deal about business simply by watching him work, take risks, deal with people, and build businesses. Tina was also positively affected by him and the example he set.
That's part of what makes the name Hadley Point so meaningful to both of us.
Every time we make or sell a bar of Hadley Point Lavender Seaweed, we're reminded of the man behind the name, the place he called home, and the impact he had on our lives.
It's amazing how something as simple as a bar of soap can carry so much history.
Hadley Point Lavender Seaweed isn't just a soap we make. It's a small part of a story we get to carry forward. 💜🌊
