We're back! Our team spent August doing exactly what this season is for - kayaking, picking wild blueberries, visiting lighthouses and our neighbors to the north, hiking with the dogs, and chasing sunsets.

We are rested, grateful, and ready for fall. Thanks for bearing with us during our seasonal slowdown - more peeks behind-the-scenes coming soon!

Field notes: We're almost back from our summer slowdown. One of the many things that happened was an important visit to the source of some of our seaweed, and a whale sighting as a bonus!

Little trick from the crew: those shaker tops pop right off!

Once you've got a favorite seasoning, skip buying new shakers every time - grab our bulk bags and refill the one you've already got. Better for the planet, and honestly, oddly satisfying to do!

You can find all our seasoning shakers and bulk bags at seaveg.com or by clicking the link in our bio.

Aww the story behind Maine Island Soap and they're lavender seaweed soap ❤️ great story and wonderful product.

The Story Behind Hadley Point Lavender Seaweed 💜🌊

Some of our soaps have a story behind them that goes much deeper than the ingredients.

Our Hadley Point Lavender Seaweed soap is one of them.

When we rebranded Maine Island Soap and created our new packaging, we decided to name our Lavender Seaweed soap Hadley Point in honor of Russ's stepfather, who passed away in 2016.

He grew up on a family farm and dropped out of school in the 6th grade to go to work. His teachers told him he would never amount to anything.

They were wrong.

He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy, build a successful plastering company with his father, own and operate Hadley Point Campground, and over the course of his life, own more than 100 properties, including apartments, commercial buildings, and shopping centers.

Russ's mother and stepfather lived at Hadley Point, where he became a true fixture in the community. He was a hard worker, a businessman, and someone who knew how to build something from the ground up.

He also had a positive influence on both Russ and Tina. Russ learned a great deal about business simply by watching him work, take risks, deal with people, and build businesses. Tina was also positively affected by him and the example he set.

That's part of what makes the name Hadley Point so meaningful to both of us.

Every time we make or sell a bar of Hadley Point Lavender Seaweed, we're reminded of the man behind the name, the place he called home, and the impact he had on our lives.

It's amazing how something as simple as a bar of soap can carry so much history.

Hadley Point Lavender Seaweed isn't just a soap we make. It's a small part of a story we get to carry forward. 💜🌊

This summer's slowdown is giving our team something we don't always get - time to really dig in. Truffle Seaweed is the most recent addition to our seaweed catalog, and we're spending some time really getting to know it and what makes its flavor so distinct (hint: it's every bit as earthy and umami-rich as its name promises).

Truffle seaweed brings a deep, savory complexity that can round out a broth, elevate a pasta, or turn simple roasted vegetables into something special!

More to come as we learn - stay tuned for tasting notes and recipe ideas!

🌿A little slower this August, on purpose.🌊

Every summer, we ease off the pace here at Maine Coast Sea Vegetables to give our crew time to enjoy the wonderful state that we call home and also dig into a few in-house projects we never seem to have time for otherwise. Stay tuned for a peek at what we have in the works!

Response times might be a touch slower, and restocks may take a little longer - but summertime in Maine shouldn't be missed. Thanks for your patience and for supporting a small company that believes in taking care of its people. 😎
