Production Drum Line Operator

The Drum Line Operator's primary function involves running a potato-dehydrating drum line. The Drum Line Operator must always consider product quality and work towards producing a consistent product based on customer and Top Tier specifications. Personal safety must also be considered.

Core Responsibilities:
• Responsible for maintaining an adequate and consistent flow of mash. Monitor and adjust the speed of the feed auger and roller adjustments, as well as shoveling product as needed to accomplish this.
• Ensure the drum operates efficiently and effectively by keeping plenty of mash on all applicator rolls; work clean mash-up and dirty mash-down; ensure only pure mash is on the applicator rollers to minimize defects.
• Ensure the reduction or elimination of waste/defect/throw-away by adjusting the rolls and maintaining as thick a sheet of mash as possible.
• Checks for product defects and ensures product quality standards are met. Notify the Production Manager immediately if the product is out of grade.
• Keep areas of responsibility clean and well-maintained during shift hours, and ensure the room is clean for the next shift.
• Complete all sanitation responsibilities including (but not limited to): avoiding cross-contamination; keeping all tools clean and sanitized; keeping mash pan relatively empty and in a good sanitary condition; keeping catwalks clean and free of debris; ensuring tools or shovels do not come in contact of the catwalk or other contaminated areas.
• Clean tool dip tanks twice during the shift; clean flake breaker covers every two hours; clean knives, slides, and snifter tubes once a change.
• Comply with all safety regulations; follow all plant safety and food safety policies.
• Follows all Top Tier and regulated good manufacturing practices.
• Ensures the proper blanching, cooling, and cooking for effective flake production.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Familiarity with the potato dehydration process is helpful.
• Must be able to follow operational instructions closely.
• Previous experience working around food processing equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation.

Preferred Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of related consumer food manufacturing sanitation experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to stand, bend, or move repetitively for up to 12 hours.
• Must be able to shovel mash weighing 35-50 lbs regularly.
• Must be able to lift regularly up to 50 lbs without assistance and 100 lbs with assistance.
• Able to tolerate dust or chemicals.
• Must not be affected by moving equipment and machinery.
• Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, climbing, crawling, and crouching as required.

Work Schedule:
• The Production Line Operator’s work schedule can vary on the time of year and product demand. One can expect 40 to 50 hours over 5-6 days per week.

Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor's role is to supervise and direct employees to execute core operating processes, including the GMPs, SOPs, SCM, SQF, and Lean Manufacturing processes established by Top-Tier management, to ensure quality and safe ingredients are produced and that efficiencies and cost structures are optimized.

Core Responsibilities:

Production Responsibilities (70%)
• Supervising and coordinating employees on shift to execute core operating processes, including the GMPs, SOPs, SCM, SQF, and Lean Manufacturing processes, to ensure quality and safe ingredients are produced and that efficiencies and cost structures are optimized.
• Work with Quality Assurance Technicians to ensure product quality standards are met; minimize held product, and ensure proper disposition occurs when holding product is necessary.
• Ensure production for the shift is on schedule and within budget, and plan production for future shifts.
• Working with Maintenance Technicians and the Production Manager to understand machine setups, coordinate preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical problems, and optimize the performance of equipment and facilities.
• Coach and develop employees, correct deficiencies, and implement discipline procedures.

General Operations Responsibilities (30%)
• Proven track record of achieving results through the growth and development of others.
• Working with the Production Manager to carefully plan the utilization of materials and other resources to minimize waste, properly utilize labor, and reduce line downtime.
• Work with shipping and receiving personnel to ensure proper FIFO of raw materials and WIP management.
• Understand the role of IFS to ensure proper allocation of materials to production runs.
• Follows all applicable SOPs for the area in which they are assigned. Maintains and uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with OSHA and plant-defined SOPs.
• Ensuring that lean practices are incorporated and continuously used to maximize efficiency.
• Ensuring that the work environment meets safety and health standards and that equipment is well-maintained and functions reliably.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Works independently with little or no direct supervision at a high level.
• Demonstrated ability to collect data, analyze and draw facts, and make decisions based on those facts.
• Supports and participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and other data collection systems.

Preferred Experience:
• College degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Five years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with 2-3 years of direct supervision experience.
• Three years of experience working in food production.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to frequently climb stairs and ladders, walk on catwalks, and work on and around plant equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Requires the ability to clearly understand verbal and written communication from others.

Work Schedule:
• The Production Supervisor’s work schedule can vary based on the time of year and product demand. One can generally expect 40 to 50 hours, over 5-6 days per week.

Quality Assurance Technician

The Quality Assurance Technician's role is to ensure that safe and quality food ingredients are produced by performing quality control tests and other tasks per Top Tier Ingredients, LLC. Quality Assurance Standards.

Core Responsibilities:
• Drawing, testing, recording, and reporting quality control samples of raw materials and finished products to ensure that all Top Tier ingredients produced are safe and meet the quality standards set by Top Tier and our customer’s needs.
• Checking batch sheets to ensure that the correct formulation and material are used per Top Tier’s production requirements.
• Conducting bar-line, processing, and packaging CPC checks.
• Reporting all variances in accordance with Top-Tier policies and SOPs.
• Holding all raw materials and finished products that fail to meet established standards and finalize disposition on held items.
• Ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are carried out by all employees.
• Always maintain a safe work environment for the team and take necessary and proper action when a problem or safety concern arises with equipment, product, materials, or personnel.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• A high school diploma or GED is required
• Working knowledge of food safety and QA programs, such as HCCP, GMPs, and SPC.
• Works independently with little or no direct supervision at a high level.
• Supports and participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Ability to enter quality data accurately, efficiently, and effectively into computerized data management systems.
• Basic math skills required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate effectively and understand verbal and written directions.
• A team approach to problem-solving and implementation, as well as personal initiative and independent judgment, are necessary.

Preferred Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• 6-12 months of experience in quality control in a food processing environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to frequently climb stairs and ladders, walk on catwalks, and work on and around plant equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Requires the ability to clearly understand verbal and written communication from others.
• Must be 18 years old at the time of hire.

Work Schedule:
• The Quality Assurance Technician’s work schedule can vary based on the time of year and product demand. One can generally expect 40 to 45 hours, over 5-6 days per week.
