🐝🌿 Monday at Moose Brook Farm 🌿🐔

A new week, another day of farm life! Around here, Mondays don’t exactly mean “back to normal”… because I’m not sure normal ever really exists on a farm. 😂

There are bees to check, chickens with opinions to hear, books to create, and about a hundred little things happening behind the scenes. 🐝🐔📚

But honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. ❤️

So let’s start the week with a question:

If you could spend a whole day at the farm, what would you want to do first?
🐝 Visit the bees
🐔 Hang out with the chickens
📚 Browse the books
🌿 Wander around and enjoy the farm
☕ Or just sit with a cup of coffee and take it all in!

🐝🎥 We’re excited to share something new from Moose Brook Farm! 🌿

Our very first video from our new YouTube channel is here! We’re so excited to start sharing more of our beekeeping journey, the lessons we learn along the way, and the everyday moments that make farm life so special.

In this first video, we head into the apiary to talk about summer bearding — why bees gather outside the hive on hot days, how we manage hive conditions, and how we work to balance the strength of our colonies through equalization.

We hope you’ll join us on this new adventure! Give our video a watch, subscribe to our channel, and follow along as we share more from our colonies here at Moose Brook Farm. 🐝🍯

There’s something special about watching a coffee tree bloom.

For so long, it quietly grows, putting all of its energy into building strong roots. Then one day, almost without warning, tiny white blossoms appear—proof that all of that unseen growth was leading to something beautiful.

Maybe we’re a little like that too.

Not every season is meant for blooming. Some seasons are for learning, healing, waiting, and growing beneath the surface. It can feel like nothing is happening, but the work is still being done.

And then, when the time is right, we blossom.

Today, I’m thankful for these delicate coffee blossoms and the reminder that beautiful things often take time. Trust the process, keep growing, and don’t rush your season. Your bloom will come.

A busy morning in the bee yard! 🐝☀️

Today we’re managing queen cells and using Vivaldi boards to help build strong, healthy colonies.

When our bees raise new queen cells, we carefully move them into different hive boxes using Vivaldi boards. This allows us to create small splits while keeping the queen cells protected and giving the emerging queens the best chance to hatch, mate, and establish their own thriving colonies.

It’s a delicate process that takes patience and timing, but every successful queen means another strong hive for the future. Healthy queens are the heart of every colony—they’re responsible for laying thousands of eggs and keeping the hive productive.

Beekeeping is so much more than collecting honey. Behind every jar is months of careful hive management, problem-solving, and a little bit of smoke. 🍯💛

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my coloring book come to life through the creativity of a child. 💛

A huge thank you to Anna for sharing her beautiful coloring page with me and for letting me share it with all of you! Seeing the colors, imagination, and joy she put into the page truly made my day.

As an author and creator, moments like this remind me why I love making books for kids. Thank you, Anna, for brightening my day with your amazing artwork—you did a wonderful job! 🎨🐓

Sunday on the farm looks a little slower around here 🐓🌿
Coffee in hand, chores still calling, and grateful for the simple moments—animal sounds, muddy boots, and fresh air.

Happy Sunday from our little corner of the world.

There’s something magical about the way the sun rises over the farm this morning

The bees are already hard at work, dancing from bloom to bloom, carrying tiny pockets of gold as they go. Their soft hum fills the air — a gentle reminder that even the smallest creatures have an important role.

I’ll be sitting outside today, soaking up the sunshine and working on my new book- Letting the warmth of the sun and the rhythm of the bees inspire every word.

This life is slow, meaningful, and full of little moments that matter most.

What’s something small you noticed today that made you smile? 🐝💛
