Good morning beautiful people!
Today we are diving into hydration.
Hydration has been one of the biggest lessons for me as I’ve gotten older… especially working outside in the summer heat.
When I’m out on the farm, sweating, hauling, planting, harvesting, drinking water has to stay on top of my mind.
And I’ve noticed plain water isn’t always enough.
With heat, caffeine, hard work, and sweat, we lose more than water—we lose sodium and minerals too.
A few simple things that have been helping me lately:
💧 Water throughout the day
🧂 Mineral drops or a pinch of gray Celtic sea salt
🥥 Coconut water for natural potassium
🍯 Homemade “haymaker’s punch” (water + apple cider vinegar + ginger + a little honey or maple syrup)
A helpful reminder I use: aim for about half your body weight in ounces of water each day… and more when it’s hot, you’ve had coffee, or you’re working hard outside.
For example:
150 pounds = around 75 oz of water, plus more as needed.
I can definitely tell the difference when I stay on top of it—more energy, fewer headaches, less feeling wiped out by the afternoon.
Friendly summer reminder from the flower field:
Hydrate before you feel thirsty. Your tomatoes may wilt dramatically and bounce back… but we usually need a little more help than that 😄
What’s your favorite way to stay hydrated in the summer?
You can find the recipe easy for Haymaker’s Punch.
I keep various remedies for replacement like LMNT and Re-Lyte I even add sea salt to my water NOT iodized salt but real salt as a mineral.
Stay hydrated friends.
