28 hours in the mash the past three days. Just couldn’t seal the deal. But always learning. Sika deer are nothing like a Whitetail. I did manage to hammer off a box of Little Debbie Star Crunch.

Trail Cam Pic of the week: This week I’m using an older photo from our place in Pa. This one always makes me laugh. The wildlife version of the Outsiders. Looks like the trash pandas caught a fox on their block. It’s about to go down.

Artifact of the week:
Woven water basket. This basket is woven from grasses and reeds. It is then dipped repeatedly in hot pine pitch to water proof. The handles are woven horse hair. Typically made and used by the Apache or Navajo in the western US. This is a later piece in my collection and likely mid 1800’s, but super cool.

Large Anasazi pot. 800 - 1200 AD. This is the second one I posted from my collection. This one was recovered in New Mexico. The Anasazi were also known as the Ancestral Puebloans known for their cliff dwellings in the four corners region of the United States. (The items posted above are from my collection. Two Sika doe throwing hands or should I say hooves. These sika doe like to fight. I get 3 or 4 pictures a year of them scrapping.

Artifact of the week:
This long , flintlock pistol barrel was recovered from the Cromwell site in Montgomery Co , New York. You can clearly see the touch hole, rear site location and the barrel lug. The site was occupied by the Mohawks from 1626 - 1635. This would have been obviously traded to the Mohawks likely for furs, typically beaver pelts.

Trail Cam Pic of the week :
From Pa again . This young Tom is hanging out with a hen. The turkeys around here are very sporadic. Here for a day and gone for two or three months. I rarely get any pics of them.
