Last open house of the 2026 sugaring season — today! 🍁

We’re open from 11–4 for one final day at the sugar shack.

The season has come to a close, so we won’t be boiling in the evaporator (no sap left to run), but Joe will be bottling a limited batch of our very dark syrup—what some of you may know as the old Grade B.

Here are some photos from last weekend of the maple guys—boiling away, joking around, and doing what they’ve done together for over 40 years.

If you’ve never tried the very dark syrup, this is the boldest, richest of the year. And if you stop by at the right time… you might just leave with a hot quart, fresh off the line.

Come by for one last visit. We’d love to see you. 🔥🍁

This is by far my favorite picture from the Hardwick Sugar Shack: the adorable maple guys in their matching red suspenders. You can see them today during our open house from 11-4. Craig works the evaporator, and Joe works the reverse osmosis machine and the filter press. After forty years of friendship, they are still hanging out (and beginning to look and dress alike, wouldn't you say?)

So exciting to see the spring flowers out at the Coop! Stop by and pick up some spring colors then stop by the sugar house today and see how we make maple syrup. Our open house is from 11-4, Sunday March 22. The Hardwick Farmers Co-Op sells our syrup year round, so you can always pick it up when you need it.

Did you know you can cook your corned beef and cabbage in maple sap? It adds a subtle sweetness that turns a St. Patrick’s Day classic into something really special. If you don’t have sap, a splash of maple syrup in the cooking water works beautifully too.

Here at the Hardwick Sugar Shack it’s become a bit of a tradition. Every year during sugaring season we make corned beef over the open fire. The photo we’re sharing is from last year — Jon tending the pot the old-fashioned way. Good food, wood smoke, and a day in the sugar woods… hard to beat.

We’ll be boiling tomorrow and the sugar house will be open Sunday from 11–4 for our weekly open house. If you’re out enjoying the weekend, stop by and see the evaporator in action.

And if you’re planning a St. Patrick’s Day dinner this week, maybe try adding a little maple to the pot. 🍁

We went to Moose Brook to collect sap and you never know what you will find. A big tree came down right across a number of main lines. ARGH! Luckily, Joe and Jon (with the special help of Sara and I) were able to fix it. You can see what Sara and I contributed to the cause in the second picture. Very important stuff. Oh, and we are open to the public from 11-4 today, Sunday March 8th. Come visit and see how we turn this sap into delicious syrup.
