Blue Trio #1
The Satin hen is almost 1 year old and also from my breeding stock. Parting with her simplybecauseshe has the wrong comb type (she inherited the straight comb from the cochin genetics instead of the walnut comb from the silkie genetics).
The silkie roo and satin pullet are both right at 5 months old. They still have a bit more filling out and maturing to do!

Next we have a Chocolate Trio!
The Satin hen is from my breeding stock. She is molting at the moment so her feathers are in rough appearance in comparison to her photo! She is 1.5 years old currently. Parting with her because her tail and head p**f are not rounded enough for what I want in my chocolates.
The silkie roo and silkie pullet are both in the 5-6 month old range currently. And still have a bit more filling out to do!

As I continue to go through our growouts and existing chicken breeding pens, I can't help but notice how far my birds have come over the years! Not me over here trying to stay focused while also reminiscing on the past 6 years of our family farming journey. 🤣🤣🤣
So I put together a lil video clip to show an example of where we started vs where we are now with one of our poultry project pens. I am so excited to see these in a "back to back" if you will (I have no idea what to call this video clip lol)

BUT!!!
With that being said, I am also finding more fluffers to part with for one reason or another. Some being that I simply need less, some being they don't meet hard criteria for my breeding goals, some being that they may have leakage or a "muddied" look to the feather color and some just have the wrong comb type or not a dark enough color for my goals. 🤷‍♀️ These are still good birds! And they would make a great addition to any flock or even be a great start up mini breeding group!

I am having to be VERY picky about what I keep this year in order to keep my numbers down and my work load more manageable as a full time homeschooling SAHM of three. Also, I'm at the point in my project breeding journey where I really need to buckle down and be extremely intentional with who gets selected to stay and who gets selected to fly the coop.

In full transparency:
This year we hatched to keep up with the demand of the previous two years...apparently this wasn't a great idea 😳😅 lol. We ended up with a surplus of chickens!!!! And, while *most* of our available large fowl have already been claimed, we do have 1 trio still available. And a nice selection of our fun bantams from our Satin pens, Silkie pens and Bantam Cochin project pens. Some of our available bantams are most definitely project status! And some are from very high quality breeding stock! The pricing will reflect the quality of the birds so there is no "one size fits all" with the cost of these feathered beauties.

We have decided to make some major changes to our farm and lifestyle. With this comes major downsizing! So we are parting with over half of our goat herd and over half of our chickens! Our loss can be your gain 💕

I will not take individual photos as that is just too time consuming for me to do and keep track of at this time. I could send group pictures if absolutely necessary, however, coming out to see for yourself would be the best option.

When all the goats escape because you are just a lil later for feed time than their usual time and they firmly believe they are being starved! 🙄🤣🤦‍♀️

3 more beds ready! 🙌 They will be planted with all of our extra tomato starts that's didn't sell this year! No need for them to go to waste! I will figure out some form of a trellis system for them up against the porch this week/ weekend. It may not be a pretty one but it wil be a functional one!

Truffle had her baby a few days after these videos were taken. She apparently gets extra affectionate when closer to kidding just like her momma, Annie, does! Who wants to see a video of the baby?!
