An Alabama farm originally worked by enslaved people tells a story of resilience and family

Come out for a great time!! Oct 2nd!

For nearly 150 years, generations of the Datcher family have farmed land in Harpersville—an extraordinary legacy of Black land ownership, family, and stewardship.

Their story is also deeply connected to the history of the Wallace Place and helps us understand what came after emancipation: families building lives, preserving land, strengthening community, and carrying their history forward.

Join us during Homecoming for a special gathering at the History House, the Datcher family home, as we celebrate this remarkable Harpersville legacy.

There’s nothing better than listening to the sound of a tractor going down the road 😎😎 enjoy this POV of us leaving the farm headed to the grain bin!

More recently, we had a small mess at the grain bins where one of the doors weren’t closed all the way. You see Elton, Marcus, and EJ working on cleaning up, and yes… it took some HOURS😭😂 but it got cleaned and lessons were learned 😂👏🏾
