C&C Livestock

C&C Livestock Here at C&C Livestock, we aren’t like most typical horse/livestock traders. It is very important to us to be 100% honest with everyone. I am not a vet!

I rescue, rehab and rehome horses and other livestock.🐎🐄🫏

My passion is rehabbing the neglected and getting them out of the cruel auction pipeline for a second chance.

Forever homes are the goal 🩵 Delivery offered. It is my passion to help people find the perfect horse that meets their needs, not just make a quick buck. Many of the animals we take in are at thei

r worst; skin and bones, injured, sick or abandoned. Our goal is to give these horses a second chance at life and to bring out the best of each one. All livestock are sold AS IS and will come with any vet records and paperwork I have obtained on them. Horses will be ridden, worked with under saddle and on the ground and have any necessary vetting completed prior to being sold. I want to give as much information as possible about these horses meaning we want to let you know if they load, have any issues and are safe. For example, If we wouldn't put our own kids on something we're selling as kid broke, we won't sell it that way! You are more than welcome to have any horse vetted prior to purchase and I encourage it. These are living, breathing animals and have a mind of their own. I will give any and all information I know or have come to learn about them in my care but once they leave my property, I cannot control any behavior, health or issues that arise. However, if you need help or advice after adoption, I am always available to help! What we offer for a fee:
Consignment: Do you want to sell your horse but do not want the hassle of posting it, taking photos, talking to the general public and boarding the horse during the process? We can help! Transport: We will haul just about anywhere, rates vary. We can haul for vet trips, buying or selling and more. Deposit required up front for hauling jobs. (Licensed and insured)

Okay guys, I have two special donkeys that need rehomed TOGETHER!

Both were very loved by their previous owner but life changes forced her to rehome them. I’m looking for a great home where they can stay together (not sold off later, they MUST be together) and she can continue getting updates on them.

-Jack is the larger, crested neck grey donkey and is in his mid to late teens. He’s got a super lovey dovey personality and is easy to catch. He’s currently on a diet. 🫣
Oliver is the darker one. He’s 5-6 years old. He looks to be in overall good health!
Oliver is more standoffish but comes around, he’s very nosey and likes to be involved at a short distance where Jack just wants to be in your pocket lol. They’re not hard to catch either, crazy for donkeys right? Haha.

Both do okay for the farrier and just got trimmed. They stand tied and aren’t hard to catch. Both have been in with horses, mini ponies, goats, sheep and pigs and so no harm to any. They are a joy to have honestly!

They came with an elder mare that we are going to keep and care for her until her time comes whenever that may be. She does require extra care and vetting so your adoption fee’s go directly to support her care. 🩵

PM me directly if interested, low rehoming fee for both. Located in Wartburg, TN.

Today we sat down with WVLT reporter Kaitlyn Walsh and discussed the border closure and how it affects the horse industry.

We discussed as a livestock business that does rescue work, the concern of where the excess of unhandled, dangerous, elderly or otherwise slaughter bound horses will end up.

We discussed the benefits of having facilities that offer humane euthanasia and disposal at affordable to no cost. So many horses are put into the pipeline (auction/slaughter) due to the cost and emotional factors involved in end of life decisions.

Our piece will be on at 6:00 today, tune in to channel 8 WVLT news. 🩵🫶🏼

Good morning everyone!
I’m working on a special project and have some important questions I’d like to ask yall and would like opinions, pretty please 🩷
Your input is greatly appreciated and needed.

-If your horse needed to be euthanized right now, do you have the money for the vet bill or would that be a big stress you’d have to figure out?
-Do you have enough property to dig the hole or would you have to pay to dispose elsewhere?
-Do you have the equipment to bury them and someone to do it or would you have to hire out?

Also, what have you had to pay to put down your horse? & specify was it just the euthanasia only, was it disposal too, etc?

For us, we have access to a tractor but not the best ground so I’d pay UT a disposal fee or we’d bury off site. Not the most ideal but we have a plan.

Again, thank you in advance for the input. 🙌🏼🫶🏼

I don't know what's going to happen with the borders closing and when they will open again.. Or if they will open a sl@aughter facility in the US.
However, I do know that ALOT of horses get shipped. & it's usually not the heart string pulling BS pages that want you to donate and "save them" either. I have watched with my own eyes, a semi truck getting loaded with horses at Bowie livestock barn in Texas and it was more horses than I'd want to tell you.. Also, I'm not some unaware, uneducated rescue owner, I know why horses get shipped. I get it, we have a problem..

& it's a REAL problem. The horse population is out of hand. Between backyard breeding, too many unhandled dangerous horses changing hands 100 times, too many old broken down horses that should've been put down a long time ago but got dumped at the sale barn instead. Then there's horses with serious physical defects that are causing them pain but still getting rode through the sale barn or attempted to walk in and I just sit there waiting for them to collapse at any moment.. What are we going to do with all these horses? I'm genuinely asking a serious question.

I don't like the idea of a load of horses riding together loose in a trailer 1000's of miles, slipping in f***s, falling down, getting kicked, getting trampled and then getting ran through and shot in the head with a bolt gun or worse.. so what's the compromise? There's not enough legitimate rescues that can help at this level, there's not enough money being donated to help them all and euthanasia is expensive. So what can be done?

In my head, I envision a facility in each state where you can take your horse and have it humanely put down for a small fee and they incinerate it, or you can donate it for science, or donate it to feed zoo animals? I'm sure I'll catch hell for saying that but would that not make more sense? When Wendy died, I paid UT $360 to dispose of her body and use her for teaching purposes. Austin said they had ALOT of horses to get through..

So what do y'all think needs to be done? I won't judge, I promise. & I hope y'all won't judge me for my thoughts either.
Regardless, I plan to continue helping as many animals as I possibly can by getting them the care they need and finding them forever homes. I don't think my little voice can do much but maybe someone's can, I just hope the animals get the best outcome of all this in the end.

Looking back on this year so far, we have made so many positive changes that benefited our business and the animals.

-Austin built two new stalls to make four at our house for quarantine along with a turnout area and small arena for light testing/tuning.
-My sister in law allowed us fence in and use her large pasture to put horses out for pasture quarantine and turnout.
-We have my grandparents farm for pasture space for horses that are waiting to be adopted who have went through full quarantine.
-We lease 111 acres for horses that need to hangout and gain weight.
-We just purchased a boarding facility equipped with 12 stalls, 5 pastures for turnout, an arena, round pen and plenty of room for expansion later that can allow for more boarding. This will bring in money to help more horses. Y'all know asking for Donations makes me sick so we decided to invest in something that can help with that.

We have an amazing vet who will do anything to help animals in need, we have a floater who I think is the best in the business, we have a farrier who is always one text away and loves what he does, I have a husband who I can say "Hey this horse needs us, can you go get it" and he always makes it happen, I have a family who is extremely supportive of our business and constantly reminds me how proud they are of me, I get to educate our kids about livestock and let them ride cute little ponies and horses from the sale barn, we get to show horses love that some probably haven't felt in years and I get to saddle up and ride every horse that comes through and be one on one with my dream come true.

To the people who don't like me or have something negative to say about what we do, respectfully, I don't care. I absolutely love what I get to do everyday, I love watching them get their feet done, I love hearing my floater sing to them and tell me they're special, I love walking into this empty barn and thinking of the fact that one day it will hopefully be full of people who share the same love for horses that I do, I love walking into our barn at home and seeing the horses relaxing and feeling safe, I love going to the feed store and stocking up on feed knowing it's going into the bellies of horses that didn't get cared enough about to be fed at all. I love scooping stalls out because I know I'm about to add new shavings and they're going to feel like they're sleeping on a tempurpedic mattress when they get back in. I love, love, love helping animals. I live my dream. I've been through it all.. strangles, losing friends, death, financial stress, arguing with the internet, almost closing my business down because I was at the worst point in my entire life but I'll tell you what, I didn't. & I thank god everyday I didn't do it. I took a break but I bounced back and I made something I am so damn proud of. C&C Livestock has been my life for the last four years and I will always strive to make it better and better.

Thank you to all the people who support us, thank you to my family, thank you to my friends, thank you to my boss for understanding this is my life, thank you to my husband, thank you to our kids for enduring all these long nights at the barn while we work to fix it up. Thank you to everyone who ever doubted us and talked down about us, you made my skin thicker and I needed that. I have my honesty and I'll admit to every wrong I ever made because every decision made me learn to be a better person today. I have no ill feelings toward anyone, I hope everyone succeeds, whether you like me as a person or not. I may have people I steer clear of but that doesn't mean I wish them badly and I mean that. I have a small circle that I am so thankful for. I have made so many friends out of clients, y'all are like family to me now. Literally crying as I type this part out... Stacy, Jaclyn to name a few.. and SO many others too. When I rehome a horse, you don't get forgotten, you become a part of my life because whether I had that animal for one day or 100 days, that animal was special to me and now you are too.

Sorry this is so long, just a lot on my heart today. I feel like I have an army of people supporting us and you just don't know what it means to have that, especially on the hard days. So thank you again, thank you for hanging in over the years as I figure this out. To the OG's, thank you for hanging in since the beginning when it was just an aspiration and I made so many mistakes trying to get it right. I think we finally got it right.. :)

We made it.

Junior is large and in charge 🤪🫣.
He’s also beginner broke, has fancy buttons, is more whoa than go but will w/t/c with ease.

I really can’t express how many diamond in the roughs there are in the auction pipeline. I have found so many of them over the years, junior is definitely one of them! 💜
