Another HUGE Italian Brown fig from our orchard!

One of the most rewarding parts of growing your own fig tree is seeing fruit like this develop and finally getting to pick it at peak ripeness. 🌿

A good reminder when harvesting figs: size alone doesn’t mean a fig is ripe. Watch for the fruit to soften, change color, and begin to droop on the stem. Giving it enough time on the tree allows the sweetness and flavor to fully develop.

Let’s see what’s inside this Martenica fig!

We peeled it back and split it open to reveal the beautiful, sweet flesh inside. And the taste? Very sweet, flavorful, and definitely a fig worth growing. 🌿

Martenica is semi hardy fig variety, and this one was grown in a pot — a great option for fig lovers who want the flexibility to protect their trees during colder winters.

There’s nothing quite like picking a ripe fig and eating it straight from the tree!

The wait is over — our Petite Negra fig is finally ripe! 🌿

We’ve been watching this fig closely as it changed color and softened, and today it was finally ready to pick. And the verdict? The best-tasting fig we’ve harvested so far! 🙌

One of the best ways to tell when a fig is truly ripe is by more than just its color. Look for a softer fruit, a slight droop at the stem, and a tender feel. Picking too early can mean missing out on the full sweetness and flavor.

What makes this harvest even more rewarding is that this tree suffered severe freeze damage and had to push new growth from the ground this season. From freeze damage to an incredible ripe fig — not bad at all! 🌱

No backyard? No problem! 🌿🍈

This Martenica fig is growing in a pot and is almost ready to harvest. Growing figs in containers is one of the best options for gardeners in colder climates because you can simply move the tree into a garage, basement, or other protected space during the winter to prevent freeze damage.

Container-grown figs can still produce an incredible harvest while giving you the flexibility to grow varieties that might not otherwise survive your winters.

From freeze damage to fruit—nature is resilient. 🌿

This Petite Negra fig suffered severe freeze damage and had to regrow from the base this season. Despite that setback, it’s now producing beautiful figs that are beginning to change color, which means they’re getting close to ripening.

A fig isn’t truly ready until it softens, droops slightly, and develops its full color and sweetness. Patience is part of growing exceptional fruit!

The Wait Is Over! Italian Brown Fig Is Finally Ripe! 🌿

Just two days ago, this fig was still finishing its final stage of ripening. Now it’s fully ripe and nearly twice the size!

Did you know? Figs grow the fastest during the final days before they ripen. As they soften, they rapidly fill with natural sugars and moisture, developing the rich flavor and sweetness that make tree-ripened figs so special.

That’s why it’s best to let figs ripen on the tree whenever possible!

Italian Brown Fig Comeback! 🌿

Just a couple of months ago, we shared this Italian Brown fig tree after it suffered freeze damage last winter. Everything you see now is 100% new growth from this year—and it’s already loaded with figs!

Nature is incredible. With a little patience, this tree has gone from winter damage to a promising harvest.

We’re not done yet! We’ll keep you updated and post another video as soon as these figs are fully ripe and ready to pick.
