We have wonderful news! Earlier this Spring we applied for the Dairy Business Builder's Grant through the DBIA (Dairy Business Innovative Allaince). We were informed yesterday that we were awarded the grant!

The Dairy Business Builder's Grant is a reimbursement grant. This means that we have to spend the money and purchase approved items from the budget we submitted. We would then get reimbursed for those items.

What does this mean for Prairie Creek Creamery? This means that all of the wonderful donations that we have received from our GoFundMe will go even further. We will be able to use the funds towards items on our grant budget and then once we get reimbursed they can be used to purchase other items that are necessary to open. We will then be able to apply those funds towards other needed equipment items and supplies that are not cover by the grant that we are receiving.

We are now one step closer to making this happen. We have an awesome set up with the dairy facility, milk parlor, bulk tank, cheese room, aging room, the barn, and the pastures. Any donation big or small would be very much appreciated. We are working around the clock to bring goat cheese back.

We would also like to thank everyone that has donated so far!

This week I made a double batch of cheese. One pot had 4.5 gallons of our lamancha milk. One pot had 4.5 gallons of Nigerian Dwarf milk from my mother in law. This was to see if there was a difference in the amount of cheese it yielded. Boy was there a difference! We got 5.5 pounds of cheese from the lamanch milk and 11 pounds of cheese from the Nigerian Dwarf milk.

This has us considering getting a few Nigerian Dwarf goats. We will continue making cheese at home so we will be ready when we get the dairy ready.
