Thursdays fitting class at The Goat Expo! These kids were paired up and given 40 minutes to show clip a goat. This is no small feat with a goat you raised yourself, much less with a person you just met, and possibly a goat you just met. Tabi was paired with a girl who is brand new to showing dairy goats, and she was able to teach her and her mom how to trim. Lila and her partner came in second overall. There is huge level of concentration and perfectionism needed to make sure every hair is clipped to the same length, and all the details are trimmed. I mean details! A perfect straight line above the hoof, tail trimmed short with just a little puff of fur on the end, inside the ears must be hairless, udders also are hairless, the entire face must be trimmed short, that includes the whiskers and some even trim the eyelashes. All those details and probably more that I missed in just 40 minutes. I have shaved a few goats since we started this, but PLEASE don’t time me!
