Now is the time to plant MILKWEED seeds! Milkweed is the host plant for Monarch Butterfly caterpillars, so if you want Monarchs in your yard next year, plant some milkweed seeds now.

We have seeds available of the strain of common milkweed that grows extremely well here in Mid Michigan. The seeds like to 'overwinter' which means that the cold helps them get ready to grow next spring. You can tamp the seeds down in the dirt now and cover with some leaves or brush.

Be aware that milkweed can become very abundant and take over, so don't plant it where you want to grow your garden as it can dwarf the growth of other plants.

Monarch butterfly below is pictured on oregano, but all other photos are of milkweed! Look at the stripes on that Monarch Butterfly caterpillar eating the milkweed plant. Milkweed flowers attract other butterflies also.

We have 30 seeds for $5.
