This....Today, I was having a normal day. Just went out to my burn barrel to take care of some stuff. Linda was no where around not even in sight. Of course I had trouble getting it to lite.....I went back in the house to try a different lighter still no sign of "him". As I tried the new lighter I noticed two black hens right near my feet so I knew he must be near. I looked up and he was coming around the other side of the barrel so I slowly moved to the opposite side. All the while he is very calm at this point. We circled around the barrel several more times. Still trying to get my stuff to lite. All of a sudden he decided to run around the barrel and jump at me! I was about to just punt him when I lost my balance and fell over this mound of dirt clumps! As I lay there sprawled out on these prickly dirt clumps yelling, "You stupid chicken!" I realized the look of bewilderment on his face. I guess he didn't expect me to just fall at his feet. He didn't know what to do next so he just walked away dodging the dirt clumps I was hurling at him!

The Quiet was short lived with Linda the Rooster.....Yesterday morning I needed to take out the trash, but Linda was hanging out right outside the door! I figured I would wait him out so I went into my kitchen and he moved to where my window is! He was eyeing me through the kitchen window! I waited awhile, still there. My next course of action was to get my Shepard.....I let her go out the door first. LINDA DOESNT LIKE MY DOG! Big surprise there. She chased him off the porch so I could get my trash out and head to my burn barrel. I got there and Leia (my Shepard) followed. All was well, Leia went off to smell something, but I felt his presence approaching. I could not for the life of me get that trash to light! I turned, he had followed me! He immediately acted like he was eating grass when he saw me look at him. 🙄 I tried to ignore him and continued to try to light that stupid bag! I knew I would be in trouble soon because he loves to corner me by my burn barrels. I called to my dog, she didn't respond, she just kept sniffing. He was getting closer so I called Leia again, much louder this time. All the while still trying to light that trash! I had to leave it in the barrel. By this time, I was still calling Leia and finally she came running! She loves Linda. She started playing with him running and barking at him. She was having a great time. At this point I just watched. Linda, however, was not having a great time. His feathers were raised and he was jumping and trying to peck at her nose. I decided to start heading back to the house while he was distracted. Leia decided the fun was over and went to the house with me. Close encounter averted. This time.

This is Linda the rooster: Today was a quiet day. The lawn had just been mowed, and he was content to lead his hens around the yard. I was pushing it to get this close to take this picture. He was eyeing me the whole time! Thank goodness for my long lens!

This is Linda, the rooster. Yes his name is Linda. (Story for another time) He is the meanest thing alive on our farm right now. I might just start a series of posts on the Chronicles of Linda. He will attack any chance he gets, and he's sneaky about it. He will literally sneak up behind you and act like he's eating grass and then BAM! He's to fast to catch, and good thing for him because he probably would have been stew a long time ago. This is him when I caught him eating the pig feed. More posts to come on "Linda"........
