Happy Birthday our Homestead Founder and Creator, Jerry Bowling! Today we celebrate by donating more food and tomatoes from our gardens to local drop off sites.

Again, if you are able to donate during these times, great. If not, that's okay too. Just sharing information on resources available can be helpful. Right now, local churches in the area are offering to be drop off locations. In a time where there is uncertainty, choose hope and strength. I know it can be difficult to understand other's situations but instead of adding separation and division, lean into kindness and compassion. We will help as long as we can while we are still here in the area.

We understand that the recent news about the CFS food pantry’s closure has been heartbreaking for many in our community, especially as the colder months approach. Thankfully, several local churches have graciously stepped up to serve as drop-off sites to help fill the gap.

Here at Thistle Jade Farms, our roots have always been in community, and that won’t change, even as we relocate across the state. Last year, we were proud to donate over 300 pounds of tomatoes to families in need at the local extension. Today, we’re donating the remaining produce from our gardens to Hartford City Wesleyan Church. In addition, fresh herbs are being donated to the Blackford Purdue Extension for their upcoming programs, so stay tuned for that.

During these difficult times, we encourage everyone to show compassion, even if you can’t fully understand another person’s struggles. If you’re able to give, every bit helps. If you can’t, that’s okay too. Just share local resources with anyone you know who might need them. Together, we can keep supporting one another.
