We've milked for awhile but this is the first season we have a milk room!!! 💕My husband, Oliver Winship grew up on a multi-generational dairy farm and does AI for cattle locally. I grew up in a culture of DIY so I do a lot of breads, noodles, etc. We as a family have two forever kids and we currently are resource parents for two more. We continue to grow, learn, and live our dream - hence the name of our farm. 🥰

My sister sent me a gift and it's so {unfortunately} absolutely true. 😂 The shirt says, "Easily Distracted by Cows".

We were a little late getting home for evening barn chores tonight, but for a good reason.

The whole crew spent the evening helping at the Sumner-Hartford Food Bank Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser.

Now, the cows weren't thrilled with the delayed supper service. Apparently they feel their dinner schedule is more important than community service. 🐄😂

But we love this little food bank.

We love that it helps elderly neighbors, families with children, and folks who are simply trying to make ends meet. We love that the people being helped aren't strangers hundreds of miles away—they're our neighbors, friends, and community members.

So here's your friendly farm reminder:

Go donate. https://eastsumnercongregationalchurch.weebly.com/sumner-hartford-food-bank.html

Skip one coffee. Skip one fast-food meal. Skip that thing sitting in your online shopping cart that you probably don't need anyway.

Every dollar donated goes further through the food bank than most people realize, allowing us to purchase food at prices we could never get at the grocery store.

If you've ever enjoyed a farm post, bought a loaf of bread, stopped by our farmstand, or just cheered us on from afar, consider helping us support something we care deeply about.

Feeding. People.

Together we can make sure our neighbors have food on the table.

Now if you'll excuse us, the cows would like to file a formal complaint about their late supper. 🤨🤷

Just the other day I was telling someone how blessed we are and what a wonderful life we live. Apparently the cows overheard me and decided I was getting a little too comfortable. 😂 ...even though, I was many miles away from home when I had this conversation.

This morning we woke up to a missing yearling.

Since then, Oliver has:
✓ Walked approximately 47 miles in the woods
✓ Driven every back road in existence
✓ Talked to the neighbors
✓ Donated several gallons of blood to ticks
✓ Entered what can only be described as “full-time farmer panic mode”

Meanwhile, this is also his LAST day of vacation. Naturally.

Honestly, if you want a high-maintenance lifestyle, skip expensive hobbies and just buy cows. You’ll never relax again. There is no such thing as free time. There are always shenanigans. Your calendar simply becomes:

• Feed cows
• Fix fence
• Chase cows
• Look for cows
• Wonder why you bought cows
• Love cows anyway

We’d appreciate prayers that this steer stops his independent wilderness journey and brings himself safely back home before Oliver accidentally walks all the way to Canada looking for him. 🤣

These little ducklings are just so cute! We upgraded their water hole just now so they are getting used to the in and out of it. But gosh they're fun to watch!

We put flowers in the bathroom and it makes the whole room light up in a beautiful scent. Natural smells are so much better for us than lab made- try it, you might be surprised how much you like it. (You're welcome to grab a small bundle from our plant the next time you come by the farmstand.)

It’s not twice a day — or even every day — that the farmstand gets mopped… after all, it’s not the milk room!

But today, the mop made an appearance and the sweet smells were added. ✨

Tomato plants for sale. & Lilacs for fun.
