Farm déjà vu

There’s something special about raising the next generation and seeing those same traits come right back around the way they walk, their attitude, even the way they carry themselves on a lead. It’s like stepping back in time while moving forward at the same time.

This is why we do what we do. Good cows leave a mark, and Galaxy is proving that all over again through Juniper.

After days of waiting (and a whole lot of second guessing 😅), she finally made her arrival.

Welcome to the world, Mantachie Juniper Mackenzie Ash 💕

117 pounds of strength, attitude, and everything we hoped for.

Out of our incredible cow, Galaxy, this heifer is already proving she has the same determination and presence. She hit the ground ready to go — up and trying within minutes and hasn’t slowed down since.

She looks just like her mom, right down to the markings, and we have no doubt she’s going to play a big role in our program moving forward.

The future starts here. ✨

This summer, if I say I like winter better, please knock me unconscious immediately.

The cold has absolutely wrecked my life. The barn water is frozen solid, so I’m hauling water from the house like I’m auditioning for Little House on the Prairie. Our older pig is fighting to stay warm and keep weight on, and Winslow the bull has decided electric fences are merely a suggestion and times his prison breaks for when the fence isn’t quite hot enough — ripping down entire lines for me to repair in the Arctic tundra.

I miss summer. I miss sweating. I miss complaining about the heat. I take it all back. Winter, I’m done with you.

Winslow was named Reserve All-Breed Bull Champion and Breed Champion Bull at the Washington County Fair, highlighting his quality and potential.

Four years ago, you were a tiny bottle calf in my arms, and now you’re a strong, beautiful cow who has given me two amazing boys and so many ribbons to hang with pride. You’ve grown with me, taught me patience, and filled my heart in ways I never expected. Happy birthday, sweet girl—you’ll always be one of my greatest gifts.
