Welcome Stock Guernseys Welcome Stock Guernseys is a small Guernsey herd located in Hartford, New York. Welcome Stock Guernsey Farm resides in Hartford, New York.

Owned by the Foote family, over 50 head of registered Guernsey cattle call Welcome Stock Guernseys home. It was over 17 years ago now, when seven-year-old, Mary Foote, went out to the barn to pick out her very first show calf from her grandfather, Bill Peck. While the hutches were filled with Holsteins, there was only one calf that caught Mary’s eye, Welcome Hotshot Apple, a Guernsey calf that was born just days out of the Spring Calf Class. While her grandfather tried talking her out of her decision, even promising to find another Guernsey calf that was born right for the shows with a better pedigree, Mary would end up purchasing Welcome Hotshot Apple for just $1. Apple would be the last Guernsey calf to be born at Welcome Stock Farm in Schuylerville, New York and the start of a new era of the “Welcome” prefix. What started out as simply 4-H project that has turned into Guernsey farm with approximately 60-head of Guernsey cattle. Owned and operated by Wayne, Elizabeth, Wayne, Jr., Mary-Elizabeth and Suzanne Foote, Welcome Stock Guernsey Farm focuses on producing well-balanced cows and heifers that can compete in a show ring and in the bulk tank. The farm resides on approximately 100-owned and 100-rented acres in rural Washington County, New York and plants a variety of corn, alfa-alfa and other crops throughout the year.

We are a huge proponent of the dairy lease program.

Lease programs through 4H, breed organizations or FFA provide opportunities for non farm kids AND farm kids to show quality dairy animals that they would not otherwise have.

One of my favorite examples is a strong-willed 6 year old who showed an award winning Spring calf in 2025. She was convinced that she could show “her” calf again this year. They practiced often and her heifer responded well at home. But, when they got to the fair, that MUCH LARGER spring yearling wanted to lead herself around!

Thankful that we had a back-up spring calf already leased to her and entered in the fair!

This team of Guernsey Gals have shown with us for the past four years! Neither come from a farm but their work ethic and dedication is unmatched. They’ve shown county fair champions and even NYSF Junior and Grand Champions!

We will truly miss their leadership!

One of our Guernsey Gals of Welcome Stock leased a fancy short-aged spring calf in 2025. She was determined to show her again in 2026 but the heifer grew a little more than she did.

Luckily we had a spring calf that was more her size for this year!

We had a small but mighty herd representing the Guernsey breed at the Washington County Fair, and they certainly made their mark in both the Youth and Open Shows!

Welcome Jack Daniels Teeter-ET — VG-88 was named Grand Champion Guernsey in both the Youth and Open Shows. A Jack Daniels daughter, Teeter was the winning Senior Three-Year-Old.

London-DF McDreamy Johnny N’ June-ET earned Junior Champion of the Junior Show and Honorable Mention Junior Champion of the Open Show as the winning Spring Calf.

Welcome Torpedo Jessica followed closely behind, placing 2nd in the Spring Calf class behind Johnny N’ June.

Small numbers, big results! We are incredibly proud of this group and grateful for everyone who helped get these cows and calves ready for the Washington County Fair.
