Fernweh Nubian Dairy Goats

Fernweh Nubian Dairy Goats The herd is now sold due to moving abroad but I will keep the page up to showcase former herd members

Fernweh is a small herd of purebred Nubian dairy goats in Southern Minnesota focusing on show quality, milk production, and wonderful temperaments.

Helping a friend looking for a nubian buck, if anyone knows of any available (And no, that friend is not me, sadly lol). Must be purebred, registered, and old enough to breed this fall. Would be best if in/around MN or going to be going by with transport. You can message here and I'll pass it along or leave information in the comments so that they can see it too. I'll be living vicariously through this buck hunt so thanks everyone! ๐Ÿ˜

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, I'm thankful to be able to spend it with family in the states this year, which also means I got to visit my girl, Fernweh BV A Jrny In The Dark, and get some much needed and missed goat time in! I missed farm life so much I even volunteered to help clean barn by hand ๐Ÿ˜‚ Journey says she's ready for some cross ocean travels with me to come see Germany ๐Ÿ˜ Thanks Ash at Classic Creek Dairy Goats for keeping my girl fat and happy!

I've been having a tough time without the girls lately, but this time of year I love seeing updates of breedings from new homes, like this very exciting AI (her first time taking to AI too!) for former herd member Fernweh BB Dash of B'Witchment! What a wonderful cross, I can't wait to hear what she has next year!

Congratulations to all the exhibitors so far in the 2023 ADGA National Show, and good luck to those still showing today!

I wasn't able to watch the live stream this year, which was really sad as almost all of my favorite herds are on that coast and were showing. But I had to share this pretty girl as she is the maternal sister to a prior Fernweh herd member, Lakeshore Blue Valerian, and aunt to Fernweh BV A Jrny In The Dark, who now resides at my friend's herd, Classic Creek Dairy Goats. And I must say, I see a lot of family resemblance between the two! A testament to the wonderful genetics of Lakeshore. Not only that, Lakeshore's lovely Colorama sale kid's sire is also out of Lakeshore Belmont Vogue 5*M, who was 3rd in her class (which included the reserve national champion). And the 2023 Reserve National Champion, Lakeshore True Beauty 8*M, is *B Lakeshore Belmont Stakes' maternal sister, the sire to Lakeshore Belmont Vogue 5*M. Seeing the success of Valerian's relatives sure makes me miss my herd and seeing what he could have done for me!

My friend, Ashley with Classic Creek Dairy Goats, acquired another Fernweh animal this year, Fernweh TT Stormin Norman, a buck I had sold as a kid and is now a 2 year old. I couldn't believe how big he's gotten! He was quite the chore to set up as he was too big to lean over well and he wasn't sure what this whole setting up thing was. Thankfully got a couple decent, if hairy and very smelly, pictures. His sire was a favorite of mine, a really beautiful young buck that I wish I had gotten more kids from. Happily, he resembles his sire a lot! Especially in that graceful swan neck. Norman actually goes back to to my strongest dam line on his sires sire and my old foundation lines from Lakeshore on his dams side. It'll be fun to see any kids she gets from him in the future!

Visiting the states for two weeks and of course I had to squeeze in a goat show! Not even 24 hours after arriving I was off to a show lol. I got to show "my" lovely girl Fernweh BV A Jrney In The Dark under 3 different judges๐Ÿฅฐ Depsite being the smallest and I believe youngest of her class of 8 sr dry yearlings, she went 2nd once and 3rd twice with comments about her being a beautiful doe that once she has a little more size and maturity would be really hard to beat. This breeding turned out just how I wanted with Journey being so wonderfully smoothly blended, level, angular, with lovely breed character and beautiful dairy character. I just love her! And to top it off she inherited the loving and sweet personality that maternal line is known for. Thanks to my best friend Ashley for letting me steal my girl for the weekend ๐Ÿ˜ I'm currently trying to figure out how I can smuggle her into Germany lol. Can't wait to see how she freshens next year. I'm hoping to make a trip back next summer specifically to show her again!

It's always wonderful to get updates on the girls and boys I sold and their progeny, like this fancy guy who's for sale! He's out of a son of *Lakeshore Blue Valerian and Fernweh BB Dash Of B'witchment 2*M VG 86 VVVV, a cross which ended up being my favorite kids from last year (both boys of course) combining my strongest dam line and a buck out of a super doe from Lakeshore with an fantastic mammary system. His dam also is from my herd, a lovely young doe who earned her restricted leg while with me and freshened with wonderfully wide, globular, snuggly attached udder with excellent teat delineation and placement. It's nice to see my girls and boys go on to their new homes and do great things! ๐Ÿฅฐ Contact Hillstar Farm if interested in this fancy young kid. He already looks so much like his sire!

This little lady, Fernweh BV A Jrny In The Dark, owned now by my best friend, went to her first show this past weekend. And she did great, going 2 x 3rd with comments both times that she would easily have won with a little more maturity. I can see why because she was just what I hoped for with that breeding! She is wonderfully long and level, so smoothly blended and dairy. I'm sad I don't get to personally see any of my Lakeshore Blue Valerian kids mature because i think he really could have stepped up the herd, but I'm hoping to visit during a show next year and take this lovely young doe for a spin in the ring myself ๐Ÿ˜‰. Thanks, Ashley, for taking my favorite kid of year so I can watch her grow vicariously through you. ๐Ÿ˜

If anyone has show news, updates pictures, etc. of any of the goats they bought, please don't hesitate to let me know! I love to see how they're doing and to spotlight them on the page here now that the herd is gone.

Another big round of congratulations is due to a former Fernweh herd member, Companeros Titan Eden 9*M VG88! I kept forgetting to share this one with all I've been busy with here, but she definitely deserves her shout out as well! Eden went to her first show with her new family, and even in the process of bring dried off and on only once a day milking, this girl took the show by storm earning two GCH and two BUOB, as well as taking RSGH in the other ring. Nothing slows her down!

While I only had the privilege of having this girl for 1.5 years, I miss the big goofball. She was always so happy, adored everybody, loved all attention, and if I would have let her, I'm sure her place to be would have been in the house on a couch getting head scratches for all eternity. Usually with her lip up in the air at the same time lol. Glad to see she is doing so amazing with her new family and getting out there and proving her stuff! Thank you to Goodrich Meadows for loving this wonderful, silly, beautiful, productive girl and giving her a fantastic home.

A huge congratulations to the beautiful GCH (pending) Whimsical Kids DC Dash Of Envy 1*M VG89 for not only getting that last leg she needed with her new family but to do it in style with 3 BOB and 3 BUOB at what is their first ever goat show. I knew you could do it girl ๐Ÿฅฐ And shout out to her daughter Fernweh BB Dash Of B'witchment 2*M VG86 for her first place win in 1 class.

I miss the girls terribly (even a little teary eyed writing this) but it makes it easier to see how wonderfully they're doing in their new homes. Huge thank you to the lovely Todaro Farm for taking such good care of them and making sure they continue to reach their potential. Love you girls, even thousands of miles awayโค

Mitten Madness Dairy Goat Show was a truly amazing first show for the Todaro Farm Nubian herd, coming home with a permanent Grand Champion, and numerous class awards across the five does we brought to the show.

As our first show, Mitten Madness was a great learning experience, and we learned a lot from the feedback of the three ADGA judges, and our peers and supporters we finally got to meet! Thank you, Fernweh Nubian Dairy Goats, for supporting us to bring in your beautiful does to continue working in a performance herd. Thank you, Sandi Walters, for putting on the show, and for all the folks volunteered to make it a reality. Looking forward to next year! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ†

So excited to have one of my girls at Nationals!๐Ÿฅฐ Congrations to Fernweh CR You Talk Too Much and her owner Emily Miller on their 12th place win!

I never was able to make it to a National Show in my 19 years of showing, as much as I wanted to, and so having a doe I bred be there and do well is an amazing feeling. Thank you Emily for taking great care of her!!
