Today, we wrapped up calving season for 2024. It has been a season of firsts for us, including our first stillborn calf and the first time breaking a bone while checking cows and calves. But the highlight was our first set of twins! Daisey did amazingly well and is being a good mama. Both calves have nursed, and although the heifer will be a free martin, it's exciting to watch them. We feel blessed to watch a pasture full of calves.

It's hard to put into words how much we've been waiting for these two calves. Losing Trophy has been tough, but the arrival of these two grand babies to Trophy brings me so much happiness and blessings. This morning, the two heifers delivered within hours of each other and directly across from each other.

This lil peanut is so stinking cute and a nice addition to our herd. This 1st time heifer is doing such a good job fetting peanut up and going.

While doing chores last week, I discovered our first calf of the year, a beautiful stillborn bull calf. Fortunately, my husband is gracious and we had obtained a bottle calf the prior week. I successfully grafted my bottle bull calf (Jersey x Charolais) onto Apache, a wonderful dam and mom. They were able to go out to pasture yesterday, and it's heartwarming to see how well they are bonding.
