Breakfast time for the lambs!

(And Agua who waits around to eat what they drop.)

Sharing is caring @ Foghorn Station.❤️

Woo hoo! We're swimming in currants right now!

Just kidding. We got 7 this year. However, they're the first currants we've harvested after caring for this bush for 4 years so we'll take it!

Sooo grateful Luna is so patient with Forest. He's cute, but can be rather annoying at times.

We love seeing animals loving on each other @ Foghorn Station. 😍

Each and every day, Agua chooses to spend her time with sheep rather than chickens.

Since she makes herself at home in their area, we had to give her a little step stool so she could access sheep water.

Such an odd bird @ Foghorn Station. 😂

We've taken the monsters in for their annual check-ups over the past couple of days.

Coda needs to lose a bit of weight, but he's a whopping 126 lbs!

Good thing he's sweet as pie or we'd have a big problem on our hands @ Foghorn Station.

Yesterday was sheep shearing day!

It's hard to find good shearers to come all the way up here and it's never cheap. As a result, we've had some pretty poor experiences over the past 4 years - until yesterday!

This year, the shearer who was supposed to help us fell through, the one we used last year is MIA, and it's getting too warm for sheep with heavy wool so we had to find someone in a pinch.

This gentleman drove up from the Denver metro area and not only did the best job yet, he's a professional trainer and kindly showed us how to shear and trim hooves, allowed us to jump in and practice with supervision, and provided a plethora of tips and tricks we could never learn from YouTube.

For example, see the yellow streaks on the white sheep (Buttercup)? That's lanoline, which can be used for beauty products, but is also liable to gum up your shearing tools.

We learned so much!! It was definitely the best shearing experience we've had thus far @ Foghorn Station. 😁

Thank you, Dane Robinson!!

Meet Laverne and Shirley - guinea fowl Station.

We bought them a couple of years ago as an experiment. We were hoping one was male and one female so we could breed, but that didn't work out.

Surprisingly, they live with the chickens. We thought for sure they would have flown the coop or be eaten by predators by now.

They are very loud. Some folks use them as watch dogs, as their loud call will readily alert those nearby if something is amiss.

Since they're a bit old to slaughter for meat, we keep them around as entertainment and since they just started laying, for their eggs, which have a distinct conical shape, a very hard shell, and a larger yolk ratio. We think their eggs are just as or tastier than chicken eggs.

Little Forest absolutely adores Luna and she is so sweet and gentle with him. Thank goodness because she could very easily hurt him or any other animal here.

We still have more training to get her not to play with chickens, but we are very much on our way @ Foghorn Station. 😍

Our second round of hatching chicks didn't go well @ Foghorn Station, but we ended up with these two cuties.

They'll be heading down to Denver to supply eggs to a dear friend and her beautiful family. 🤗
