We are officially DOWNSIZING to make room for some exciting changes here at the farm! 🏡🐣

We have some beautiful birds looking for new homes! 🥰

As much as I love them all, it’s time to make some changes and focus on the breeding projects I have planned for Mize Creek Farms! ❤️

Finally, our very last baby has hatched! 🐣🩷💙

Our little late bloomer has officially made its way out to the coop to join all its friends and mommas! 🥹🐥

There’s just something so sweet about watching these tiny babies hatch and then seeing them snuggled up with their mommas. My heart is full! 🥰

I want to hear from all my chicken people who attend swaps, shows, and vendor events!

What do you use to transport your birds?

We’re talking ALL ages!
🐣 Baby chicks
🐥 Grow-outs and juveniles
🐓 Full-grown chickens

Do you use plastic totes, pet carriers, poultry crates, or something completely different?

I’m looking for ideas to make transporting birds easier, safer, and more organized, especially when bringing several different ages and breeds!

🐒❤️ A little unexpected adventure today!

Our neighbor behind us has THREE spider monkeys! 🐒🐒🐒

While the guys went to watch someone pull his tractor out of a ditch, Carlee and I decided to go visit George! 😂❤️

I mean, how often do you get to say you have spider monkeys for neighbors?! 🐒🤣

Never a dull moment around here! ❤️

🐓 BIG CHANGES COMING TO MIZE CREEK FARMS! 🏡🐣

We are going in a new direction with our custom-built chicken coop! 🥹

My hope is that in the near future, this building will become our dedicated incubating, brooder, and grow-out building! 🐣💕

As I work toward getting my breeding pens set up the way I want them, I’m slowly making changes around the farm to make everything more organized, functional, and easier to maintain!

We officially have new flooring installed in HALF of the coop! 🙌🏻

I’m really hoping this makes everyday cleaning and those dreaded deep-cleaning days SO much easier! 🫣😂

There’s still plenty of work to be done, but I’m excited to see this vision come together, one project at a time!

And let’s be real… around here, one little project always turns into about TEN more! 🤣🐓

Who else is constantly changing things around in their chicken setup because they thought of a better way to do something?! 😂

🐓 Let’s talk about Silkie ROOSTERS! 🐓

If you raise Silkies, you know the struggle! 😂 One minute you’re enjoying all those adorable little fluffy chicks, and the next thing you know… ROOSTERS EVERYWHERE! 🤦‍♀️🐓

So, I have a question for my fellow chicken people!

What do you do when you have too many roosters and just can’t find homes for them?

🐓 Do you find someone local who will take them for FREE?

🐓 Do you offer them for a very low rehoming fee just to find them a home?

🐓 Do you have someone who regularly takes your extra boys?

🐓 Or do you have another way of handling the rooster overload?

I know this is something a lot of breeders deal with, especially when hatching straight-run chicks. Not every little fluffy butt can stay, no matter how much we’d love to keep them all! 🥹

I’m genuinely curious how everyone handles this because, let’s face it, we can’t keep every rooster we hatch!
