Our forage oats are coming on strong!💪 But seeding was the easy part… the trick to putting up quality oat hay is a properly timed harvest.

Too early 🟰 High protein but lower yields
Too late 🟰 High yields but low quality
Just right 🟰 A hand full of days in July! ⤵️

Early milk is when the kernels produce a white liquid when squeezed. This stage balances yield with protein and palatability to produce an excellent forage with an oat kernel candy topping! 🌾 Our animals loved it, and yours will too.

We are now booking mixed grass, Orchardgrass and forage oat hay for 2026! Contact us ASAP.

Big news, folks! As many of you know, we have been embarking on a multi-year process of reseeding hay fields. It has been a long time coming, but we are proud to announce that this season, Meadow Made will be offering pure Orchardgrass hay! Grown, baled, bundled, and fussed over as you have come to expect from us. For those not familiar, Orchardgrass is soft, leafy, and packed with nutrition — your animals will love it. Pre-order opportunities will be starting soon! Bales are 2 string, smalls squares, 50 pound average.

Joe scored while out checking hay fields today!! There has been an incredible number of elk living on the ranch since last fall—far more than in past years. We got Tate (2.5 years old, WOW!) bundled up and are heading out for a good ol’ fashioned family shed hunt!
Enjoy this deluge of rains, friends; I know that we are!
P.s. You’ll be hearing much more from us in 2026… it’s going to be a big year on the Ranch! Happy hunting 🤘🤞
