Why do you Run Reds?

08/25/2026

Riding through checking bred heifers this evening and grabbed a picture of a couple of coming two year olds due to calve in 3 weeks. Both sired by LSF SRR King Arthur 0136H out of our Belga and Vernice cow families. Not a bite of feed since mid March, nothing but grass all summer and these females are absolutely stellar. This is what we are building our program around!

Over the last few weeks we cut our corn silage and cut some Sorghum Sudan silage as well. With all the rain the Sudan got way too big but we got it tested and it’s still some great quality feed.
This is one of the most important parts of our operation and I’m very thankful to have had such a good crop this year!

Fall bred heifers are sure looking good, they have been turned out on nothing but grass since mid March. They are set to start calving September 1st.
Really excited to see the set of cows this group turns into!
