COMBINE TIME | It's tough to beat a seat in the combine during wheat harvest! 🌾

Jayes Huber, son of Jason and Ashley Huber of JH Seed & Soil Service in Westhope, N.D., got an up-close look at harvest while the family combined Rolls wheat.

We always enjoy seeing the next generation learning the ropes, especially when there's a Peterson crop coming through the combine!

Thanks to Jason, Ashley and Jayes for sharing a little piece of wheat harvest with us. Here's to a safe and successful finish to harvest!

PETERSON ADVANCE | Every year, dozens of new products hit the market. Not all of them work here.

That's why we built Peterson Advance, to do the vetting before it hits your acres. We don't guess. We measure.

✔ Replicated research
✔ On-farm trials
✔ Multi-year evaluation

See how it works:

New ag products are everywhere, but not all deliver. Learn how Peterson Advance tests products locally using research and on-farm trials before recommending them.

GRATEFUL | It hasn't been the easiest growing season across our territory. Between heat, dry stretches, storms and everything else Mother Nature has thrown our way, there have certainly been some challenges.

But even in a tough year, we're fortunate to do what we love: working in agriculture, watching things grow and helping farmers do the same.

And the flowers around our Peterson office are a pretty good reminder: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

KNOW YOUR ROOTWORM | Northern or western? Both corn rootworm species can cause problems, but they don't behave exactly the same.

Our trapping efforts have shown northern corn rootworm making up the vast majority of beetles we're finding across the Peterson footprint. That's important because northern CRW can use extended diapause, allowing some eggs to survive two winters—and potentially create rootworm pressure even in first-year corn. Western CRW, meanwhile, can cause more damage at lower population levels.

🌽 Peterson Regional Agronomist Chris Bryce breaks down how to identify the two species, the differences that matter and what growers should consider when managing CRW pressure.

Most corn rootworm in our region is northern. Learn how species differences impact management decisions, pressure risk and control strategies in corn.

CORN ROOTWORM WATCH | We're keeping tabs on corn rootworm pressure across the Peterson footprint.

Our agronomy team is monitoring nearly 60 locations this summer, with traps checked weekly to see where beetle activity is building. So far, northern corn rootworm is making up the vast majority of beetles captured. Most locations remain below the economic threshold of 14 beetles per trap per week, but monitoring sites in the Wheatland and Argusville, N.D., areas have already exceeded that mark.

📩 Follow the data all season long. THANK YOU, INTERNS! | As summer starts to wind down and our interns prepare to head back to school, they had the opportunity yesterday to share their experiences at Peterson.

Our 2026 interns gave presentations highlighting what they've worked on, what they've learned and some of the experiences they'll take with them as they continue their education and eventually begin their careers.

Throughout the summer, they've jumped into everything from research and agronomy to field evaluations, data collection, industry events and more. Just as importantly, they've become part of the Peterson team.

We appreciate the hard work, curiosity and energy they've brought to Peterson this summer. Thank you for spending your summer with us! We're excited to see where you go from here!

GOSS'S WILT | We've been seeing some Goss's wilt in corn fields across our footprint this season.

And when Goss's shows up, it's important to know what you're dealing with. It's a bacterial disease, which means fungicides won't control it. Hybrid selection, crop rotation and residue management all play important roles in managing your risk.

Think you're seeing Goss's in your field? Brush up on the facts and a few common myths before making management decisions.

As is typical, the number of Goss’s Wilt myths & facts I’ve heard around the region have grown along with the prevalence of the disease.
