I thought I’d post a mini highlight of my favorite chickens. These late generation Gold S*x Link hens are Bertha (on the right) and Penny (2nd photo). They are the hens I’ve had the longest and I love them. Bertha especially has a big personality and will reliably run to me when I call out that I have treats. They both lay a big brown egg almost daily.

S*x link chickens are birds that have been bred so that a layperson can s*x them from hatch based on their color or markings. Unfortunately, the first generation is as far as it goes as you can’t tell the guys from the gals if you keep breeding the resulting birds. These gold s*x link birds were likely a cross between a White Leghorn and a Rhode Island or New Hampshire Red and are bred as production birds.

Our new additions! We have Cream Legbar, True Ameraucana, Easter Egger, Olive Egger, Black Copper Maran, and Lavender Brahma. I’m looking forward to some pretty eggs in a few months!
