Dear Boss,

Before you ask why I was late this morning…

I walked out to the pasture and saw a lamb lying there stiff as a board. Thought he had gone off to the big green pasture in the sky just in time for Saint Patrick’s Day. ☘️

I’m standing there (in my ballet flats, not farm boots) preparing for tragedy…

…and the little lad suddenly pops up like a leprechaun and looks at me like,
“Relax, I was just nappin’.”

So in summary:
• Lamb = alive
• Me = 10 years older before caffine
• Work arrival = slightly delayed due to sheep shenanigans

Rosemary Garlic Grilled Lamb Chops

There’s something special about simple ingredients done well — especially when it starts with our pasture-raised lamb, raised slow on grass the way it was meant to be.

This is one of our go-to ways to prepare lamb chops: bold garlic, fresh rosemary, a touch of honey, and just enough red wine vinegar to brighten everything up. Grilled hot and fast, then rested until perfectly tender. 🤍

Farmhouse Favorite Marinade:
• 2 ½ tbsp red wine vinegar
• 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
• 1 tbsp honey
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 ¼ tsp fresh rosemary
• ½ tsp dried thyme
• ¾–1 tsp sea salt
• Black pepper

Marinate at least 2 hours
Grill 3 minutes per side for a beautiful medium finish.
Rest 5 minutes before serving.

That’s it. Simple. Honest. Incredible flavor.

This was the ladies way of alerting me to their water being frozen

The chickens water is heated, but it’s in a 50 gallon container, that isn’t open on the top, IYKYK 🐓💩

With these temps, the heater couldn’t keep up and they used the snow on my shoes to alert me to their thirst.

Chickens don’t get a snow day off so keeping their diet hearty for the winter, and constant access to water is a priority 🥚🍳

So far every one has done well with our frigid temps 🥶

Each stable, coop and pen got extra straw, more feed and protein / grain and hourly water checks.

Our Great Pryenese, Lainey and Lucy, who have access to the barn, much prefer to keep watch from the front porch, with the best vantage point.

Since they weren’t going to the barn to stay out of the wind and to rest, we put together a very unattractive but effective warming hut with straw and wind coverage.

I dont see this going away anytime soon because they now are using it for their lookout platform
