Early morning but amazing to see!!

We have TWO International Space Station flybys in the dawn sky next week.

Here’s the schedule:

*Pass #1: Sunday Morning — A great pass, but keep an eye on the sky; clouds might fill the sky.
*Pass #2: Tuesday Morning (The best one) — This is the marquee pass of the week. Expect prime viewing conditions, crystal-clear line of sight, and a brilliant, steady light across the morning twilight.

No telescope or binoculars needed, it looks like an exceptionally bright, fast-moving star gliding steadily across the sky with zero blinking lights.

The latest news!

Dare County has announced a phased reentry plan for southbound traffic on NC12 between the Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe: Wednesday at 7 a.m., southbound traffic will only be allowed for Priority 1, 2, and 3 individuals, as well as for Ocracoke residents. No visitor access on Wednesday.

Then on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7 a.m., southbound traffic will be available to the general public, including visitors. At that point, all entry restrictions will be lifted. Details: https://bit.ly/4dZiHj1

Again, the area near the Pea Island Visitor Center will be a one-lane gravel road, with traffic control regulated by automated signals. Please drive slowly and with extreme caution through the area. There will be sand and water on the road, and our crews will be out in force making further repairs and re-establishing a protective dune line.
