Hello everyone! My name is Ryan, from The Handpie Guy.
I’ve been getting quite a few messages from people around the area asking if I’m the same person who used to make the hand pies out of the hot dog shop in Petal. So, I just wanted to clear that up and let everyone know: Yes, that was us!
Years ago, I started South Miss Hotdogs and Handpies in Petal. We started out of a food trailer that we operated from our shop, which we remodeled in the old Petal Florist location. We served gourmet hot dogs along with a rotating selection of sweet and savory hand pies.
we also had sweetwafel, an authentic dutch stroopwafel cart set up in weekends at the lucky rabbit
After a couple of years in business, I sold the building and the business to new owners. I trained them on many of our recipes and helped pass along what we had built before eventually moving to Tupelo to start The Handpie Guy.
After about a year and a half in Tupelo, I moved back to petal and the new owners of south miss hotdogs and handpies closed the business and lots of people reached out asking me to bring the handpies back.
Eventually, after hearing from so many people, I decided it was time. So I did just that!
So, for everyone who has been wondering: Yes, that was me!
These days, we're focused primarily on hand pies. I’m no longer doing hot dogs regularly, although you may see one pop up every now and then. We currently have over 110 rotating sweet and savory hand pie flavors, so there’s always something new to try.
Hopefully you’ll follow along, come see us, and give The Handpie Guy a try sometime!
Thanks, everybody, for all the support over the years.
we'll be setting up our new food trailer all around the pine belt, taking frozen preorders and baking them fresh on the trailer in your town
(I've told this story before but wanted to let the new followers know!! thanks)
