We’ve enjoyed having several folks stop by over the last week to look through the cattle. We’ve had some really good feedback on this year’s offering, and it’s always encouraging to hear that from folks who know good cattle.

We spend our money, work long days, and take the risk to raise American cattle. Wanting folks to know where their beef came from shouldn’t be asking too much.

When a group claiming to represent cattle producers argues against that, I wonder who they’re looking out for.

Put the country on the label. Let folks decide. We’re proud of what we raise.

Congress is on break until after midterm elections, but farm country is eager for their return.
One issue top of mind is the Farm Bill.

The Senate plans to include mandatory country of origin labeling (MCOOL). Some ag groups remain split on the proposal.

NCBA is doubling down, saying it is not good for their cattle producers.

According to Ethan Lane, "Well, the logic of, in an environment where producers are complaining about high input costs and high, you know, high cost to produce that product, the same time that everyone is focused on lowering consumer prices, MCOOL would do two things right away-- it would raise costs for producers to comply with it, and it would raise the price of our product for consumers at the store. What it wouldn't do is drive demand."

December 15th will be here before we know it. We’ve spent the last year working towards this one day, adding genetics, improving the place, and putting together what we believe is our deepest offering yet. There’s still plenty to do between now and sale day, but we’re excited about what’s coming together. Over the next couple months, we’ll start showing more. For now, mark your calendar. Moonshine Angus Annual Production Sale, December 15th. We’d love to have you spend the day with us.

Good day around here. Made some progress on the sale barn, got the bathrooms about wrapped up, and Gav finished the evening moving cows.
