🚨 Weird Egg Alert 🚨

Have you ever found a squishy egg in the nest box? 🥚👀
Every now and then, an egg can move through a hen’s oviduct a little too quickly, resulting in a shell-less egg. Instead of a hard shell, the egg is covered only by its thick inner membrane, giving it that soft, squishy feel.

While these odd eggs can be surprising to find, they’re usually nothing to worry so long as they only happen occasionally. Young hens are especially prone to laying shell-less eggs as their reproductive systems are still developing, and their hormones and egg-forming processes require time to settle into a normal rhythm.

Did you know chickens have their own “fowl language”? 🐔🎙️

🐓 Crow – The classic rooster call! It’s used to announce territory, communicate status, and let everyone know who’s in charge.

🌾 Tidbitting – That excited “tuk-tuk-tuk” sound means, “Come check this out!” Roosters (and sometimes hens) use it to call others over to a tasty treat.

🥚 Egg Song – A loud series of cackles often heard before or after a hen lays an egg. Some call it a celebration, others call it an announcement—but either way, it’s hard to miss!

😠 Growling – A broody hen’s way of saying, “Back off!” When she’s protecting her nest, she’ll often let out a low growl to warn others not to touch her eggs.
