And they’re off to the lab! Nick and I have spent the last few months experimenting with our freeze dryer, testing a variety of fruits and vegetables.

Our On-Farm Processing License allows us to freeze dry fruits and vegetables, create soup mixes, and more. Freeze drying helps preserve the integrity, flavor, and nutrients of fresh produce so you can enjoy it long after the growing season ends.

Before any freeze-dried fruits or vegetables can be sold, they must be lab tested to ensure they meet safety standards for water content. Nick is dropping off several fruits to Microbac Lab in Baltimore for testing, and we’ll soon be sending our vegetables as well. We’re excited to take this next step and can’t wait to share these products with you!

Please help us wish a very Happy 20th Birthday to Carter aka ‘the tomato man!’ He is one of the most hardworking, kind, & compassionate people you will ever meet. Carter is responsible for the majority of the planting, growing, weeding, and harvesting here at KMF. He cares deeply about everyone and he would drop whatever he was doing if you needed help, and give you the shirt off his back in a heartbeat! It is truly a privilege to be Carter’s mom & dad! ♥️

☔️ Good Morning! Today at the stand - honey, eggs, and lots of zucchini!

🐝 Just harvested this week, Emily’s spring honey is very light in color, with a subtle floral taste. It comes from early bloomers like fruit blossoms, clover, and black locust trees!

Here is a little sneak peak - this is one of the four sections of a barn quilt that I drew and painted for our new building!

This winter was so dark and cold, and really had me down. It felt like it was never ending. Taking on this project really helped to boost my spirits and remind me that spring would come again! For the entire month of February, we had saw horses and paint cans and giant pieces of plywood taking up our family room while I worked on each section in the evenings.

The day that it gets put together and hung up I will probably cry. And when you pull into our market and see it, I hope that it will make you smile. 💛

We welcomed two 6 month old steer to the farm last week. Carter is really excited to raise them here! We’re so grateful ...
