Hurricane La La hit the Island of Hawaii and did considerable damage to some of the southern parts of the Island. The loss of electrical power was widespread and we were no exception. All our buildings were well constructed and suffered no damage although we lost some trees, and the Moringa orchard received minor damage. I was not particularly concerned about this storm since we have the Tesler power wall with two power wall batteries. These batteries dropped from 100 percent to zero charge in about 5 hours during this power outage. Later we connected our Chevy Silverado EV Extended range pickup truck to all important appliances in our house that we want to use. The Chevy delivered reliable electricity until today when Hawaii Electric restored power to our house. The truck powered most of our household including a large freezer, commercial refrigerator, refrigerator- freezer, TV, computer, and assorted other appliances and lights. The percent of the truck’s power compacity dropped from 80 percent to 42 percent over the four days. My conclusion is that Tesler over promised and under delivered its power wall; whereas General Motors under promised and overed delivered its Silverado EV. If you have seen my previous post about my Chevy Silverado, EV, 4WD, RS, Extended Range, with mid-gate you will understand my enthusiasm for this truck.
