It takes good people, special places, and a whole lot of growing things to make this farm what it is. With all the storms lately, we hope you and your ʻohana have been hanging in there and staying safe. Here's to another month of touching the earth together. 🌺

Storm’s coming this weekend 🌀 We’re prepping the farm and hunkering down, please do the same. Check on your neighbors, stock up on water and supplies, and stay off the roads once it hits. Sending love and strength to our whole island. 🌺

🍌 Banana blossom unfurling in the Hawaiian sun. Every part of this plant feeds us from the fruit we know to the blossom itself, which is edible too (ever tried banana flower salad?). Nature’s patience on display.

WTF = What The Farm
Trade the scroll for a stroll!! Get your hands in the dirt, your feet in the grass, and your phone in your pocket (where it belongs). 🍃

There’s a whole world out here that doesn’t need WiFi. Starfruit trees, ocean views, and good company included.

🌱 This August marks one year since Touching Earth Farm joined the Hawaiʻi Ulu Cooperative ohana, and we are so grateful for every bit of it.

Soil testing, ulu sales, educational workshops, and a staff that genuinely cares about the farms they serve. Beyond that, they have offered us technical assistance, event partnerships, and a wealth of information along the way. The Ulu Cooperative has given us so much this past year, and we are proud to be part of something rooted so deeply in community, sustainability, and aloha for the ʻāina.

If you grow ulu or are thinking about it, joining is easier than you might think. Head to ulu.coop/how-to-join.

Here’s to another year of growing together 🍈🌿

🐾Meet Bailey

Bailey is very loving and never turns down pets, in fact she demands them, smacking you with her paw regardless of how much mud she is carrying on it. She loves to rough house, herding all the other dogs and nipping at them whenever possible. She is the Jekyll and Hyde of the farm, sweet as can be to humans and a total menace to the other dogs on site.

She loves to race cars, testing the limits of her speed, and she is easily the prettiest girl around. Bailey is mother to two of the farm dogs you havent met yet, so stay tuned.

When you scratch her just right, her eyes close and she collapses into a lying position, seemingly surprising even herself. She has a vibrant personality and always wants to be where the action is, even if that means getting in the way. Her energy is boundless, her curiosity never ending, and she is a good listener who loves her pack.

What a happy life she lives here on the farm 🐶🌱

A reminder we all need sometimes: you are allowed to slow down, even if the world around you is moving fast.

Step outside, even just for a few minutes. Feel the breeze, listen to the leaves, and let your shoulders drop. The world will still be there when you get back to it, but you might feel a little lighter for having stepped away.

Wherever you are, we hope you find a moment to slow down and enjoy the outdoors

Basic needs. 🌿

Breadfruit or ulu was one of the most important staple crops in ancient Hawaiʻi. Nutritious, versatile, and grown right here on our islands. Our kūpuna knew what they were doing. 🙏

We're bringing it back. One tree, one plate, one community at a time.
Touching the Earth Farm is a proud member of the Ulu Cooperative, a network dedicated to reviving this incredible crop across Hawaiʻi. And the best part? The ways to eat it are endless. Steamed, baked, fried, mashed, made into chips, flour, hummus, curry, even dessert. 🍽️

If you haven't tried ulu yet, what are you waiting for? 🌳
Did you know a single breadfruit tree can feed a family for generations?
Drop a 🍞 if you love ulu!
