Today’s brew is my Christmas beer. The base is a Belgian Dark Strong with honey and dark Candi sugar. It will rest in the keg with several bourbon soaked oak spirals, plus some cinnamon and nutmeg. Beautiful color as it goes into the boil kettle. Drinking a Belgian Pale Ale as the boils goes on.

On the left my American Lager named after my dad. On the right Coors Banquet beer, my dad’s favorite beer. Came pretty close. I don’t filter so Coors is a little clearer. But the flavor is really close. Good enough for homebrew.

Getting ready for the North Idaho Drinking Season. Put the wood behind the taps so the handles don’t hit the wall. Did some upgrades to the cold box to help keep the condensation down. 62 degrees in March is crazy. Could be a long season. Lots of beer to brew.

Haven’t made my Christmas Beer “Bad Santa” in 5 or 6 years. A huge amount of grain then several types of sugar added to the boil along with raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bourbon soaked oak spirals are added to the keg. The neighbors seem to like the left over grain.
