It was great to get out and do some hive inspections this evening! The goldenrod is really starting to bloom and the frost aster isn’t too far behind. We are optimistic that we’ll have a bit of fall honey to pull if this keeps up.

Watch our busy bees hard at work today! There is never a dull moment around the apiary. They are carrying lots of fall pollen in!

Goldenrod and aster bloom is about to begin, so it was time for some fall splits. The colony that has been in this apiary since summer was already starting to work the early blooming varieties of goldenrod. Praying for a great fall nectar flow and that all of our colonies will make some awesome fall honey!

Busy day today in the apiary, pulled one set of mite treatments and added another before the fall goldenrod/aster bloom starts up. Hoping we’ll have a good fall and can actually get a bit of fall honey.

The muscadines and scuppernongs are also starting to ripen up, picked 2 gallons right before dark.

Extreme heat means early morning bee yard work…quick inspections on these colonies, 3 are recent splits that are doing great.

If you don’t have a battery powered w**d eater for the bee yard, trust me you need one, 😂

Even though the dearth is here, this late blooming winged sumac is giving the girls a boost. We’ve also planted some buckwheat that is starting to sprout which should also help with feeding through the summer.

It was a busy day yesterday…bush hogging completed, pruned roses and some fruit trees, and did a quick inspection on all our bees. The summer heat can be rough, but the late days allowed for checks at our remote apiary and w**deating with a beautiful sunset and moonrise.

It is always worth stopping to focus on God’s beauty and blessings!
