Super excited to finally learn how to graft queens last month, only to be disappointed that not a single one survived. I tried again and all five of the cells I grafted are looking great today! I also collected a swarm for the first time the other day for a neighbor!

If you’re in the southeastern states, set up some yellow-legged hornet traps and report if you see any! So far they’ve made it to GA and SC.

A good trap bait is:
-2c grape juice
-2c DARK brown sugar with warm water to liquify
-Mix together and put in container with a 1.5” hole in the upper 1/3. Hang in trees or place around apiary.

Honey bees are attracted to light brown sugar, so the dark brown sugar is a must! (Ask me how I know🥴)
