I want to thank everyone who has reached out over the past weekâespecially our friends, family, and church family who have helped us in so many ways.
What we thought would be just a tough couple of days has turned into a much longer road to recovery. An MRI yesterday confirmed that Stephanie had a small stroke in the part of her brain that controls movement on her left side. She has some movement in her left leg but not much in her arm. Sheâll be starting physical therapy soon, and while her doctors say she will recover, it will take time and hard work.
As crazy as this sounds, we were relieved to hear it was a stroke and not the cancer spreading. We even joked on the way home about how wild life is when youâre relieved to find out your wife had a stroke! That doesnât make this easy. It really sucksâit feels like weâre fighting a two-front warâbut through it all, God is still good.
I love how our Creator prepares us for hard times. Thursday night at our community group, we were in 1 Samuel 22. Saul was hunting David to kill him, and just when it seemed like David would be caught, God sent the Philistines to raid the land. Saul had to abandon his pursuit of David to go fight them instead. The people whose land was raided probably questioned God, wondering why this was happening to them. What they didnât see was that God was using this trial to preserve the life of their future king and, ultimately, the bloodline of the Messiah.
Life is hard. Sometimes itâs hard for a long time. But there has never been a time when God is not good or faithful.
In all transparency, life is really tough right now. But God is still good. First and foremost, we have eternal glory waiting for us whenever He calls us home. Here on earth, He has surrounded us with an amazing church family, incredible friends, and strong, loving families who have helped us in ways we canât even begin to list. Our kids are tough and resilientâtrue farm kidsâwho love their mother fiercely.
There is so much to be thankful for, and God has made it easier for us to see His blessings daily.
We canât thank you enough for your prayers, your kindness, and your support. Please continue to prayâfor Stephanieâs healing and, most of all, that God would be glorified through it all.
Thank you.
