We got a late start this year, and the weather stayed cool well into May, but the garden is finally coming along. Working on tomatoes cages and trellises tonight. Strawberries are very prolific this year, we harvested 18 pounds yesterday. And we have 4 broody hens sitting on eggs. It's looking like it might be a good year for Bramble Hedge.

Hen's are starting to lay. If anyone is interested in buying farm fresh eggs, we are selling for $4 per dozen.

So...we have another hen trying to go broody. Would anyone be interested in chicks if we let her hatch them? They would be available in about 21 days as newly hatched, or we can raise them through the brooder stage for you and you can get them at 6-ish weeks. We have chicks! The first hatched out yesterday afternoon, and we counted at least five this morning. She was sitting on ten eggs and they are still hatching, but mama hen is not happy about us poking around too much, so we'll have to wait and see how many we end up with. Spot has been a perfect broody hen and so far is being a good mama as well.

Our first broody hen! We definitely do not need more chicks right now, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity of a broody hen. She went broody yesterday afternoon, and has a dozen eggs under her. If our blue egg layer cooperates, we'll get a couple more blue ones under her over the next few days.
