Tonight we had the opportunity to experience life from the other side...of the table that is.

Landmark Park's Farm to Table dinner featured products from all across our area. Agriculture is the backbone of the Wiregrass, and we are so glad to see events such as these continue to grow throughout our community.

We are already making plans for our second Wiregrass Farm to Fork dinner here at CornDodgers Farm during satsuma season this fall. Great food, good company, and the chance to meet the people who grow your food never goes out of style👨‍🌾🍊🍂.

It takes many hours of planning and preparation and many hands (that we are very grateful for) working in front of and behind the scenes to make farm camp look effortless.

Sophie's and Buttercup's, however, are not among them😂🐈🐈😴.

🌻🐝🦋Plants and Pollinators🦋🐝🌻

We wrapped up week 2 of Camp CornDodgers with a lesson about some of the hardest workers on the farm--the honeybees and their fellow pollinators. Of course, no honeybee lesson would be complete without honey tasting. Opinions were mixed on that one😉🍯🐝.

After a week of working hard and playing harder, it was time for 💦Water Day💦 and 🍦ice cream sundaes🍦.

Thank you all for sharing your children with us these past two weeks. It has truly been a joy and a privilege (and at times they even taught us a thing or two😉). We pray the lessons learned, memories made, and friendships formed last well beyond the camp days.

Have a wonderful summer. Fall is just around the corner🍂🍂!

💎Day 4: Natural Resources💎

If you only had one water bottle to last all day, would you use it responsibly or be reckless with it?

That was the question we started with today as we talked about natural resources and what it means to be good stewards of them. Whether it's water, soil, forests, minerals, or wildlife, the resources we enjoy are gifts that should be used wisely, not wasted. Campers got to see some of those resources first hand as they mined for gemstones, sea shells, and fossils.

Our day wrapped up with snacks, chores, journal time, popsicles, lots of play time, and more work on our raised garden beds. We are excited to conclude our week tomorrow with lessons on pollinators and everyone's favorite, 💦Water Day💦!

Before the camp crafts, chores, and play times start, we gather under the barn to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and our camp promise and have our devotion time.

We believe the seeds of character we plant are just as important as those we plant in the ground. One of the best ways to do that is to start our day by remembering what matters most: gratitude for our country, respect for others, responsibility for our actions, and most of all, appreciation for the God who made us and surrounded us with so very many gifts.

The lessons we teach on the farm go beyond planting flowers, caring for animals, or building garden beds. We hope our campers leave with new skills, new friendships, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a good steward of the gifts God has given us.

Camp promise: "I will be kind, respectful, helpful, and safe. I will care for God's creation, take care of the farm, and do my best each day at Camp CornDodgers."
