In the late 1990’s, best-friends and former college roommates Chris Medlock James and Ames Morison took a leap of faith: move to California to pursue their dream of producing excellent Bordeaux varietals on California soils.
After moving from New York to California, looking at over 100 different vineyard properties, and beginning the stewardship of Bell Mountain Ranch, the hard work had only just begun.
Inspired by the native ecosystems and beauty of the land upon which the vines at Medlock Ames sat, the two began their difficult push towards organic, and eventually regenerative, farming practices, ultimately becoming the first certified regenerative organic winery in Sonoma County.
Today, the beauty of our wines, the diversity of local wildlife, and the richness of our soils are constant reminders of the hard work and passions that made up our formative years at Medlock Ames. We are thankful to all who continue to enjoy and support what we create, and who continue to share in the beauty of the land upon which we farm.
