Our sweet Scrappy Doo crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday, and our hearts feel the loss deeply.
She wasn’t just our dog, she was part of the soul of our winery and ranch. A true little celebrity in her own right. If she could’ve held a wine bottle, she absolutely would have poured you a glass of wine. For over 13 years, she greeted every single guest with joy and worked every wine event like she owned the place, because she did. She made everyone feel welcome. People didn’t just like Scrappy, they adored her. And who wouldn’t? Just look at that precious face.
She was also the very best (and fastest) gopher catcher around, nothing was getting past her.
And don’t even think about leaving your sandwich unattended… no way. That little girl would sn**ch it up like it was hers, then side-eye you like you’d better look the other way because she’s not sharing.
But that’s okay, she’d make up for it by snuggling in for belly rubs and head pats, and squeaking with excitement when you pulled in each morning to start the day’s work.
We were so lucky to find her all those years ago, when someone abandoned her here at the winery. She was so scared in the brush. With a little patience and some salami (which quickly became her favorite treat), we coaxed her out, and from that moment on, she stole our hearts.
Saying goodbye is incredibly hard. She was truly one of a kind.
Scrappy, we love you so much. Thank you for the years of joy, laughter, and unconditional love you gave us. You will always be part of us. We hope you’re running free, chasing gophers, and greeting everyone with that same joyful spirit on the other side. 🐶 🌈 💗

Too over it to make the official post yesterday, but the last grapes 🍇 came off the vines and just like that …..Harvest 2025 is a wrap at Mounts!
Now it’s all eyes on the cellar, time to get this nectar barreled up and tucked away in the caves. 🛢️🍷 Let the winemaking magic begin.
